RE: Here she is!!!

Frank,

Sorry for delay reply my friend!. My father is in Hospital currently, today he had a surgery and now recovering.

Thanks for replying to my questions Frank, if you had to add 1 Kilos of lead in the nose just to compensate for the weight of 3 servos that are almost in the tail then i think i'm in trouble with 5 servos in my tail plane of the Constellation!, mind you my firewalls are 1-1/4" ahead of where they should be and i am have full custom built nose gear assembly in the front.

What is the benefit of using 2 tanks per engine?, plus how far are your tanks from the engines that you used the fuel pumps. I wonder if i have to do mine same or not as i'm using Super Tiger G40 2 stokers on my model for engines with quad sync system.

I'm sure where i will mount my fuel tanks for IBs on my model as htere is no room in the nacelle or behind it!.

I did like your approach of using "Deutsch power box". I will consider this for my model too.

I will have following number servos: 2 servos for Ailerons
1 or 2 servos per true Fowler flaps.
4 on Throttle servos
2 on Elevators
3 on Rudders
2 for Retracts
1 for Air Brakes

So between 15 or 16 servos will be in my model. Sounds kind high number of servos isn't it!. Do you have air brakes on your model and if so what types are those, i can easily see myself using them on all four main wheels.

So let me know what you think and if i'm on right track so far as this is my first giant scale multi engine scratch built project, please don't mind if i ask senseless question or post similar comment. I am learning from all as i am going along with my project.

Here is link to my thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_45...page_29/tm.htm, please go through whole thread, it's long but good one!

Cheers,
Sam

Frank,
Beautiful job on the plane!
I have a silly painting question. How do you keep the circular foam in place? It looks like it's wrapped with masking tape and then held in place on one side, but I can't tell for sure.
Thanks

Sam about the 1 kilo; it is not only the three servo's causing that, you also have build the tail light!,but in general it is a good habit to put all servo's in front of the CG and use a pull/pull system with steel or kevlar cables throught tubes, see our newest design the Junker 88, for the Connie with her long nose you'll prabably less problem then we have.....

The two tanks are only choosen because the other option was to cut a rib and be doing that weaken the wing construction, the distance to the engines is about 12" to 15" thats a lot, but the Perry pumps worked ok!, brakes are not needed, the drag of the full flaps setting is enough to slow her down, did you happen to see our video? Unfortenately your link didn't work so haven't seen much of your Connie yet

Mesaflyer, the circular foam is self adhesive!
Well not all around it of course but there is a self sticking strip of about 1/4" wide,

RE: Here she is!!!

Frank,

Well it's all called pre planning before you start building the model. In my case it was more of other way around, in some parts it was pre planned but not where what servos or batteries will go. I guess i am learning a lot in and from this Connie project and guys who are helping me or have helped in past. I am sure on my next project, i will not make same mistakes as on this Connie project. As for the weight issues, i hope like you said, it won't be much of problem for me but we shall see it once i start placing servos in it.

Ju-88 is great bird and very nice project to do also, best of luck.
