P40 ready, comments?
 

Just wanted to post some pics of the completed P40 I started in 2004.
Yes, after 4 years struggling with limited budget, is finally ready.
Comments will be appreciated as I have lots to learn. This is the first kit I built.

Nice job. First kit or first r/c airplane? In any case get someone else to maiden it for you. I can tell you have a lot invested financially and emotionally, both of which make for overly nervous first flights.

Great job! It looks awsome. The weight seems high to me, but I fly them electric. My P40 was 8 lbs and fly very fast. It did not like to slow down much on landings or it would tip stall hard.

I have a Tucano slightly larger than that one. All electric again and 10 lbs. Great plane!

My is about 65" wingspan, with a Saito100 on it.

Must be the same plane then, so is mine. Yours just looked smaller. I got mine from Nitromodels. It's very fast and jet-like. Turns a lot of heads at the field too.

Nilo's tucano is from Juniaer, Brazil made with fiber glass it's more heavy than your

Mine is fiberglass fuze and fully sheeted wings and weighs 10 lbs.

Nilo,
with the .91 you'll find it a bit marginal with the 14x7 3 blade.
You will want to go to a 14x6 or 14x7 2 blade.
I have the same airplane with the same engine in the same weight range.

Make sure you fly it on the wing, long take off roll and shallow climb out, let it build up speed. The P-40 will tend to be snappy at slow speeds.

I Know, right? You find an interesting thread and a nice build,it's ready to maiden, "I'm goin' this weekend", and then.............................................. ..............(sound of crickets chirping)



Like the national inquirer, I want to know: did it maiden OK? If not, I'd like closure. If so, I want to hear of, and vicariously experience, the joy of seeing one of your planes giving you the thrill of success. That's one of the reasons we are in this hobby and we go to the common field or to the club field to fly and don't just find some suitable place out in tne boonies to go fly. We want to share the joys and sympathize with the failures of our fellow hobbyists.

I imagine it is a sad ending...or he'd be happily telling us all about it the day after...
