M latest model , Vosper sidewall hovercraft. it has sidewall and skirts at front and back cannot land but lifts up on water whcih reduces resistance so it goes faster. There were several vesions: Ferry. Oil rig servicevessel, Inshore fiher protection and this version fire and rescue harbour boat. There was similar boat a Tampa. Made from pictures and small publicity leaflets ad alot of imagination. Picture attached of it hovering not very good due to picture size limit

Sorry about the various typos, The Sidewall hovercraft started when my hand vacuum cleaner broke down!!. Opening it up I found two 'squirrel cage' type fans one broken but repairable. that was the start. I contacted the Hovercraft Museum at Gosport in UK, www.hovercraftmuseum.co.uk, who, after I became a member sent me a lot of information about the Vosper Marine hovercraft, pictures, sales literature with GA drawings which I was able to expand to a 1/24 model. The fans and casings were fitted to 360 motors under each part of the superstructure, the drive is also 2 x 360s motors to props on the end of each keel. The radio is 4 channel. one channel controls the lift motors by a forward only ESC. throttle and rudders goes via an Action kits mixer and two ESCs so the model steers well and can spin on the spot. The fourth channel operates the monitor servo, but also is the Digiserv unit which switches searchlights, water jet, siren, deck lights, flasher, and various navigation lights. I would add more pictures but this site is so restricted in size. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/rchovercraft/ and go to pictures then sidewall. where there are more. At present moving house so some info is here and the rest at the other house. Let me know if you want more detail and when I find my camera ???which box??? I could send you better pictures

Wow! All from a broken hand vac!! What a great story.
Your craft sounds even more incredible than I could imagine. What a fantastic machine! Thanks for the links and the details to your machine. I could never build anything like that from an "idea". When you find those pic's I would be priveledged to view them. Thanks!
