RE: Lobster boat, need some help. scratch built
Just a little update as to the progress.
I received emails from all the places I ordered parts from that everything is enroute.
I should be able to start cutting wood by next week.
Stay tuned, more to come.

If you remember I mentioned that My plan was to build two boats at the same time. That is still the plan. Although one will be a little more on the pleasure craft side. Now your asking what the heck am I talking about.
Well here are a few pictures I plan to use for the dash and captains area. Just a little modern update. Of course with a completely redesigned cockpit area. You will just have to wait to see that.

UPS delivered my wood today and I wasted no time in getting some cut.
Since I made several copies of the plans I used one set to cut out the keel. I then used some glue sticks to attach the paper parts to the 5/16 basswood.
once all the parts were cut out everything was assembled.
Bondo was then used to fill in the area around the stuffing box.

Just a small update,
I spent most of the afternoon and evening, july first, about 6 hrs total cutting out all the parts. I'll post a few pictures later. Saturday was a day off from everything model related and my wife, daughter and myself drove up to Daytona Beach to see my first Nascar race. The Coke Zero 400. What a blast.
Thats all for now as I'm at work.
More to come.

Hey Larry,
Will I need a RH or LH twist?

Hey bob
When I lay up parts for the the different airplanes I like a really slow setting resin. The type I get is thin already. Comes in quart containers with pumps. they have other set times also. But for laminating glass or carbon fiber this works great.
I buy mine from US composites. They are about 20 miles away from me. Order one day, have it the next.

I started working on one of the cabins. This is what I have so far. I ran out of Basswood, but fear not, more is on its way.
I thought about making the cabin removable like Check6 did. After looking at it, I am going to make only the front of the cabin removable. there is plenty of room for me to get to the motor, ESC and all the radio components.
I'm departing a little from the plans as far as parts go, but so far everything is going very well.

Wayne,
I looked up your US Composites Epoxy and I see you are using the 2:1 ratio Slow epoxy hardener. I have several different epoxies, all are pretty good so I'll use them up, and I also have West Systems epoxy which is a 5:1 mix. When its gone I'll get some of the US Composites brand, one big reason is price plus I'm sure it works just as well.
I notice you've already put on the white primer coat after the epoxy cured. The way Check6 made his cabin was interesting so your departure will be another refreshing idea. Keep the pictures coming to show your progress, they are really interesting to study.

I've always gotten good service from US Composites.
I think the way I'm going to do the deck should be fairly easy. The roof part that is the cabin will actually fit under the windshield and the front will attached with earth magnets.
This way all you have to do is lift the front and slide it from under the windshield.
That should give me plenty of room.
I won't install the cabin area until I get the motors from William.
