Dumas Thompson Trawler
I just bought a Dumas Thompson Trawler on ebay. It is the fiberglass hull, superstructure, stuffing tube and prop only. What I need is the rear deck. Do any of you know where I can find one, or can one be built for it? Has anyone here built this kit? I won't have the boat until probably next week.

Another idea on the trawler. You could call Dumas directly and should be able to purchase replacement parts from them. I have done this in the past and have purchased items from them. As the previous post mentioned though, you could fashion one from plywood or styrene yourself. Most likely, it would be cheaper to do that too.
Good luck with your project!

RE: Dumas Thompson Trawler
Thanks fellas. Yeah I was planning to make my own, after I get the boat(I just bought it) and see what I need to do. I did contact Dumas and they told me there are several parts to the deck. So I sent them a picture of it and they said they will have to open a kit and look at the plans and they will let me know what parts I need and the costs.
Here is the only pic I have of it. I just won this auction on ebay, so some of you might have seen it.

Can someone tell me what ESC I should get for this setup? I bought a big fan cooled 12v motor that can run on 6-12 volts. Can I use an electronic ESC or do I need to get a mechanical one?

RE: Dumas Thompson Trawler
BM,
The way to select an ESC is by the maximum curent draw of the motor and by the voltage capabilities of the ESC. A 'stall' test of the motor(s) will tell you the maximum current draw and the manufacturor lists the voltage limits of their ESCs. Select an ESC that exceeds your maximum requirements! (Not by a huge amount, but ~some~.)
An ESC is the 'only' way to go (if possible). The mechanicl speed controls are the 'pits'...
- 'Doc
PS - There are also ESC 'kits', if you want to go that way.

Is there anyone out there with a Dumas Thompson Trawler who might be able to provide me with a plan sheet that came with this Trawler? I Just purchased a
fiberglass hull on Ebay and would like to get started on it when it shows up..... I don't think they are making this kit anymore so any help I can get would be a big help!
I'll check back here or you can leave me a message at [email protected].. Many thanks for now Bill
