Gertrude model yacht from "Superman Returns"
Hello All,
I'm interested in building a boat called "Gertrude" from the "Superman Returns" movie. I have a picture of it and have found out it was supposed to be about 300 feet long (in real life).
My question to all is, "How do you go about building an r/c model of it from scratch?"
Is there a company out there that could see the picture and draw some sort of plans for it? Or better yet, a kit?
I'm still at the planning stage with this, primarily to see if it can be done. I've attached the picture I found so you can see what boat I'm talking about.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Brian

The usual way is to take your picture, put it on the drawing board, and prepare your line plans from measurements. Its a lot of work, and part way through you will appreciate that getting a professional to do it at a sensible hourly rate will cost.
There is a legend that a UK model maker wanted an AC lookalike in the late '80s, and got his lines by videoing what he could, freeze framing and drawing on the screen to get the shapes. It was months before all of the marker pen stains were finally removed, and was the cause of some domestic friction. But thats dedication to having fun modelling.

the front section of your yacht does resemble a tico warship, so you could adapt a warship hull to suit, rather than going full scratch,
