I like tugs because you can pack allot of detail and working features in them. The neatest one I saw that an acquaintance built had a detailed pilot house with a pilot and working wheel, lights inside and out and deck hands. It ran on a motorcycle battery and was scratch built. Took him months. I’m building the sterling Liberty ship now (56" hull) and I'm going to need a tug to go with it.

Hello!!!!
I like tugs because they have her own personality, they look strong, they seem so independent, you can add them a lot of details, sound, lights and they are fun to build

I have been an R/C airplane guy for many years. I've had a Midwest Lobsterboat for a long time.
I really enjoy boats more and more. I am surprised myself at my new found interest in tugboats. They are just plain neat. Maybe its because they are so strong or maybe its because they are utilitarian. Why do people like Jeeps? Because they are "do" vehicles. A tug is the same. It works for a living.
I recently completed a Midwest Liberty Tug. I enjoyed putting in details because I knew that I'd have it for many years.

Tugs have always made popular by modlers because of their chunky hull lines and what they can do as to the real thing. I was fooling around the other day with my hartman tug, got an idea how about doing some trowling I caight 2 bluegills who needs a fishing pole

My Uncles Mister Darby pulls my dads 20' deep-vee boat along at a pretty god pace. Thats really cool. When I get around to building a tug I'm going to build a pulling machine. I want to be able to pull around a 8'x4' barge full of gravel, and there is no reason why I wnt be able to do it wiht ahull like the Darby's.
Cheers,

Unlike most scale boats, Tugs in there RC version actually do something, What can a scale fiberglass play boat get done? Scale PT boats dont often fire anything, and ifso not of anyuse! RC tugs can do some haul.
even most speedboats dont have any real speed to them.
i love speed and tug, and anything done should be done right. Going for a icebreaker custom build soon, and it will be breaking ice!

I was able to create an on-board video on my Midwest Liberty Tug. It turned out good. A few static pictures too.
Our club, the Indianapolis Admirals R/C Model Boat Club was invited to run boats on the waterfront area at the annual Hooiser Burn Camp for Children held at Camp Tecumseh just east of Lafayette, IN. Its a great day for us. We help the kids run boats and they let us run all day and feed us lunch too. Nice to be a part of such a great event.

Big enough to put stuff in, plenty of room for cool goodies that actually work, like all the lights and horn on my little Southampton RTR, sail OK if you keep the ballast LOW! in the hull.and best of all, not finicky in the least, plenty of time to recover from a bad case of 'fumble thumbs' like I always seem to get....
