Default 10 cells = 14.8 volts ?

While charging my 6 cell pack I noticed it charged up to 8.86 volts and my new 4 cell pack I just made charges up to 5.94 volts. My questian is.

Because this equals 14.8 volts will my pro boat esc that is rated at 12 volts with a bec work o.k.

Does the esc drop the 14.4 volts to 12 and if so, would I get more power if I disconected the bec and hooked up a seperate battery for the receiver, Thanks, Randy.

The 12 volts the ESC instructions quote is usually a nominal figure to guide you to the appropriate battery. A nominal 12 volt battery will normally charge to a higher voltage, but will quickly settle in use under load. When it gets down to 12 volts, its usually time to recharge.
