Default Will 4.8v rec battery work with pro boat esc

Will a 4.8volt 2000ma reciever battery work with the Pro boat escs, which say they need 5 volts to work, but
The bec circut has been disconnected. Thanks, Randy.
I am using a Futaba 2.4 and the boat took off backwards for about 20 feet today at the lake, also some of the other boats were acting weird, some one said there may be a ham operator close by.
The 4.8v rec battery is of course hooked up directly to the reciever and I was wondering if that would run the escs because Pro boat says 5v minium, but, is that only if you are using the escs to power the survos and also enable the bec circut to work, which of course being disconnect, might not matter.

The 3, 700s run off of 3, pro boat escs with the bec wire detached, the escs are hooked up in parallel to a 10 cell pack, the reciever is using a 4.8v battery.

It would seem to be working with your boat. No idea why it would take off backwards, or other boats would be doing weird things. Bunch of possibilities for that. Not really any ham bands near 2.4 Ghz, but I've got a mouse that uses it. May have been a mouse nearby...

The 75MHz have a problem of their own.
An ESC that has had its BEC disconnected by unhitching the red wire is still very much operative. It is still drawing power from the drive battery to supply its own control circuit.

mfr02, are you saying that because the bec wire is disconnected, that only means the escs are not drawing their power from the main large battery, but they are drawing there power from the reciever battery which is rated at 4.8v, and when it drops below 5.0v the proboats might have problems.

When the BEC wire is disconnected, it "Can Not" draw power from the reciever.

When the BEC wire is disconnected, the control circuit inside the ESC draws its power from the main battery that its motor also uses. If the signal (from the RX) telling the ESC control circuit what to do loses power, the ESC SHOULD just shut down. However, it might not shut down as tidily as is desirable. The output stages should be designed so that a destructive combination is impossible, barring the failure of one of the elements due to an outside influence.

The ESC supplys power to the receiver through the BEC leads. If those leads are cut off and the receiver is hooked up to a separate battery, then the ESC's will only supply the motors with power. The ESC must have batterys over 6 volts. That has nothing to do with the receiver battery in this case. Dennis
