Thanks for the positive comments, they are much appreciated. I have really enjoyed myself on this build so far!
As most of the time it will be inside the crew will be as seen, however when I take it to the Lake it will have a different set.
But these will also be set differently from the 'Norm' as it's not my nature to follow convention!

All electrics installed & working, not without a few hitches but got there in the end.
Finalised the crew positions, all waterproofing sorted.
I was hoping to get it in the water this summer, unfortunately our local parks department chose this year to clean out the boating pond.
Apparently it is 25yrs since it was last emptied.

As there is no date for re-filling I am starting on a R/C build of a 1/72 Gato Class submarine.
Hopefully I will have it completed for next summer and can take them both together.
Watch this space:)

I have Always liked the Look of this Boat.
As long as I'm Not on the receiving end of its many Weapon's Systems...

As to Your Boat in particular all I can say is:

WOW!!!

Thank You for sharing your Build Log!

Would Love to build an RC version of this boat some time.
Bookmarked for Future Reference!

Happy Booting!

Having finished the Boote, I have decided to go under for a change.
I have started a R/C conversion of a Revell 1/72 scale Gato Class Submarine.
Originally going to be a surface runner, have now decided to build as a dynamic diver.

That should be a fun project Gregg!

Augustus1967 02-25-2015 02:20 PM

Are you planning to start a new Build Thread for your Gato?

I'd like to watch your Build...
I have a Revell 1/72 Gato in my Stash, with plenty of PE to go with it...
My initial thoughts were for a Static Diver, but have Numerous Builds ahead of it in my Dry Dock... :)

Hi Gus,
Started a new thread in the Subs section.
My pocket money and lack of knowledge won't stretch to a static diver, so chickened out with a dynamic instead.

I love all the detail, but even more I love the weathering effects. On thing which bothers me a lot with so many scale boats is their “fresh from the builder’s yard” look with no dirt, no rust, no bumper marks, etc. And while weathering can be carried too far, your model depicts a Med E-boat the way I’d expect it to look towards the end of a deployment. Good job!

My issue is you have over-detailed the boat. If it was sitting at the dock, between patrols, all would be fine. To have all of the boxes, barrels, crates, etc, on deck while underway just wouldn't happen. In a combat situation, the boat needed to be ready for action at a moment's notice with the crew able to be at action stations in seconds. With all the things on deck and the crew's attention else wear, such as petting the cat, the boat could be heavily damaged, or worse, before it could be able to return fire

Thank you for your comment, however
The MODEL sits mainly on a SHELF in my autistic grandsons BEDROOM, therefore one could say that it is DOCKED.

A last play before moving on to a new owner.
I couldn't get the Lurssen Efekt using the original motors, so changed them to higher revving ones.
It worked, there is a decidedly different stance when applying the Lurssen servo at high speed.
I have accomplished what I set out to do, and I need the space and funds for my next project.
