RE: anybody willing to finish my bait boat build ?
Do you have the plan / instructions?.
Is it a kit or does some need to be 'scratch' built? Need a few more details... |
RE: anybody willing to finish my bait boat build ?
I'm sorry mate, it's not a kit... I bought all the parts for it apart from the hull. It would be a scratch build, but basically a "put together"... or mount everything inside and get the hopper working properly, the hatch door (I have an idea for this) and attach the deck to the hull (epoxy, etc.). I could give all the details of what I'd like and the builder could figure out "how" I guess you could say. Like I said before, I have probably 95% of the parts needed...other then maybe ply for mounting, servo arms for the hopper doors....and the misc stuff.
Just to think off the top of my head, this is what I should already have...and I've changed all the plugs to deans! hull+deck Motor + mount Radio+servos, etc.+charger for the batts in the handset propshaft/stuffing tube + prop + grease antenna tube rudder system 6volt sla battery+charger Deck lights (if they can be used, or you can find an alternative, either way i would like deck lights for night use) plenty of wire for the electrical some epoxy but not sure if it's enough i probably have more stuff but id have to go throu it. with the cost of all the parts and the hull shipped from the UK ive already spent over $400 easy. |

Wild guess @ 20 - 30 hours work... say 30 hours @ $20 ph = $600 + expenses / other materials reqired. How does that sound? |
RE: anybody willing to finish my bait boat build ?
Wow, I have never seen such a nice setup for this, I have heard of it done, and ran across apicture of a real ugly attempt or two before.. but thats pretty nice.

RE: anybody willing to finish my bait boat build ?
I wasn't real clear on the hopper.
I've already mounted the hopper, it's alloy and it has doors (like trap doors), all the builder would need to do is figure out how to operate the doors by the servo inside the hull (I guess by servo arms), the doors fall, or open, whatever... and the feed falls into the water. The hopper looks just like the one in the finished version.... I've attached it to the deck already with screws. I haven't taken a photo since I've done that. That's quite more then I had in mind :( |

ORIGINAL: Big Buffalo here are some more photos of a finished boat, you can see the idea of the hopper... ..and here's a different boat with a interesting paint job... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7543461/tm.htm I would of thought you would want a paint job you can see, not one that hides! (is a paint job required too?) |
RE: anybody willing to finish my bait boat build ?
ohhh you're a carper too, that's cool.. you understand me then. :)
as for the paint job, i don't care about that. though, i was thinking about dark orange for the latch door would look cool with the black hull. |
RE: anybody willing to finish my bait boat build ?
I have a question about the pictures above..I had guessed this boat would run out and drop one fishingline/bait at a time..why so much stuff in the hopper? do you sort of chum bait an area first? just curious.
|
RE: anybody willing to finish my bait boat build ?
Yes, we "bait up" (or chum if you will) as these fish tend to eat quite a bit... and we want them to stick around. It also can be used for taking out your hookbait if needed.... but more importantly baiting out quickly and accurately.

I still do not see the Depth Charges. ? |
RE: anybody willing to finish my bait boat build ?
I'm afraid it's going to cost me more then I was expecting... I'm going to try to figure it out... at least do the best I can.

RE: anybody willing to finish my bait boat build ?
Big Buffalo, I have to tell you about the first and only one of these I have seen in person. I went in to the local hobby shop, and the owner takes me aside to show me something..Here is a giant ugly block of cheap foam SORTA shaped like a boat, but it mainly looks like a alot like a big foam ice cooler. They had just smeared resin of some sort over it, and the basic look of the thing was a dirty cooler that had been pinned under a log in the river about two years. They were having trouble keeping it working, so the guys at the shop were taking it on as a project.
The best part of the whole thing was the motor battery setup. it had a giant chunk gutted out of the center of the boat, and there was a car battery dropped down in it, then a nasty old transom on the back with a full size trolling motor with a butchered handle controlled by one or two 1/4 scale servos.. it was a piece of work.. Until seeing your pics I didn't even realize such a nice setup exsisted. I have heard its popular to run bait up by dams where they won't let you fish... P.S. I never minded catching carp, its great fun ! I wish I could find a few catfishing buddies..especially if they had some spots..Just catch and release makes it worth doing ! |
