Default VIIC, one or two periscopes?

If you Google

type viic "two periscopes"

the results is many pages stating that "...The Type VIIC/42...These boats would have been very similar in external appearance to the VIIC/41 but with two periscopes in the tower ..."

So the VIIC/41 came with one periscope?

I can see two, one taller that the other. In fact I am converting a Revell 1/72 VIIC/41 to RC and it has those two periscopes. I guess one is for navigation and the other for attack.

So?

"So the VIIC/41 came with one periscope?"

ALL WWII German Uboats from Type II on up had 2 scopes; 1 "attack" (smaller head) and 1 "sky" search (larger head).

Actually, I'm wrong. I should have included the Type I, of which only 2 were built - U-25 and U-26.
