Default Computer control through RC transmitter

I am currently working on a project building a RC submarine and I am interested if anyone has tinkered with somehow connecting a PC(computer) to an RC transmitter via trainer cable.
Or even if anyone knows of the types of signals transmitted using the cable (what formats, if any)

My goal is to use a compter program to control the sub through the transmitter.

Any information, even the slightest bit would be much appreciated!

Thanks a bunch!

That seems like quite a challenge to me.

In order to control a sub with a PC, you need the sub to return information to the PC, to allow the control program to work.
This requieres two way radio contact.

I'm sure it can be done, after all, there are people who have live video feed from their sub/boat/plane, so why not sensor info to and fro?

Sadly it's not my field of expertise, so I can't help you further.

Good luck!

Regards, Jan.

The Sub i am building uses thrusters (propellors) to control its position in the water.
Two aft thrusters (left and right) control its heading and forward and backwards movement
and i have one pivoting vertical thruster which enables the submersible to dive or ascend

it's a design for a pretty large model so thrusters probably arent the way to go for a hobby size sub

hope this helps
