Hello all.
Can anyone please tell me how can you control your subs under-water, considering you probably can't seethem clear?
And speaking of which - can anyone post some pictures of your subs (out of the water would be fine, but if you have ones in the water - surface or under, would be better.
Thanks

Hello That is a good question. I think for alot of folks it is building them, the fact they can go under water is fascinating. Then some have huge models that you can see fairly deep in the water I have seen some people have cameras on them. I am farting around mainly with toys right now Walmart sub Megatech sub,,, but it has gotten me into it deeper and am starting the construction of my PVC pipe sub. then I will eventually buy/build a scale model. I play with the toy subs in the pool when no one is around of course. If I had a 33 inch model I would run it in the pool as well. I seen pictures of groups of people running them in large swimming pools. small lakes that sorta thing. I want to build an ROV to run cameras under water I have a spring fed pond on my place in Missouri and I would love to see the bottom of it with a camera. RC is just cool anything RC. there are better answers outthere for sure but what I have shared is my opinion. Please get into it. I am enjoying the walmart subs so I can only emagine what a large model is going to be like!!! Tom .

Good question indeed. Most of the time I operate my subs (Thor Alpha, Thor LA Phase II, Engel U-177 and (eventually) finished Engel Gato) at or near the surface. You can dive these boats all to about 1.8 meters. They all are equipped with a pressure mechanisim that electronically measures the water pressure and will not let you dive any deeper. Also, they all have electronic pitch mechanisims, which will keep the boat from porpoising, which is prevalent on the bigger subs. The really fun part (for me) is lurking just below the surface at periscope depth. To go any deeper you cannot see it (unless your water is exceptionally clean, I am not as fortunate) and therefore you will have to guesstimate where the boat actually is. Also, an important feature that I neglected to mention is a failsafe (or multiple failsafes in my case) It is important to incorporate a failsafe into your boat so that if Murphys law comes knocking you will at least be able to get your boat back. All radio systems will glitch occasionally underwater so a little is not bad, a lot is
