im new to the hobby of rc and i have been looking into rc subs when i found out that you can make torpedos to fire out of them

but anyway
how do you make and launch them ?
i thought that you all might be able to help ?
and those rubber band torps made from pens are kool , ive been fooling with those but so far no luck [
]
thanks all

Hi and welcom to the hobby!!
Depends on what type of torpedo you're using, gas powered ones usually use a servo to pull off a pin that blocks the torp's "exhaust". That is, the part where the compressed air comes out to propel the torp. As for rubberband powered ones, they simply use a mechanism to block the props from spinning, and use a puch rod to push or pull the torp away from the "prop-blocker" Once free of obstacles, the prop can spin and power the torp forward.
The problem with gas torpedoes is that they use compressed air (usually the kind used to power airbrushes) and must be handled carefully in changing pressure environments (e.g: on surface/underwater). The problem with rubber band ones is that you have to test different elasticity bands to get a good spin.
Are you launching your torps from a model sub or just launching them by hand? Check out my launcher diagrams on the rubberband torp thread.
Hope this helps.[8D]

In that case you should consider the scale that you are working with. The torpedo's size will depend on the sub's size itself, bigger torps means a bigger sub.
