I am building a 1/96 scale akula class submarine. I am currently working on making the foam plug and then go on to fiberglassing. I am starting to consider how to make my own WTC. If anyone could explain to me how to make a good WTC i would really appreciate it.

http://www.rc-sub.com/typhoon.html <- you could e-mail about where to get a kit
http://northseasfleet.co.uk/submarines.htm <- Russian sub kits
Other then that, Revil has a 1/350 kit non RC. and too small IMHO to make RC, but rumor has it that it is not accurate to either the Red October (typhoon class modified for the movie, or the real thing)

Yes they do.
I saw the system in the Typhoon this weekend.
its just a speed 400 and a jackscrew with limit switches in each end.
They look so cool operating......real slow and smoothe
A great scale detail.
