These sites should explain things well:

While I can probably say that I prefer static diving the most, I can't exactly say that dynamic diving is worse. Each method has its own advantages:

Static: Scale factor, your sub dives and surfaces a lot like a real sub. Can be a little expensive to build but the results are worthwhile in the long run.

Dynamic: Positively buoyaant, therefore, you have an automatic failsafe intergrated right into the design. Certainly cheaper to build, a good choice for most beginners.

Nemo's right.
I'll just add that with my U-boat that I converted to static with an engel tank, I fully static dive it to the bottom etc in clear pools and the like where I won't lose it. In muddy lakes however, I just sink it to the level of the tower just out and then it dynamic dives very easily at slow speed. It is then positive so it will hopefully keep coming up if it's not in a shopping trolley that is. I'm getting a pinger kit soon that's ordered. If you haven't heard of them, you put the sound unit in your wet area and it pings for up to 3 days. The kit includes a DIY kit hydrophone that has a receiver you dangle in the water and can hear the pinger for up to 20 metres. Once I get this up and running, I'll be a bit more adventurous in the muddy lake.
Here the site link for the mob that sells them

Hope this helps matey.

You might like to see what I mean on this video of it at a pool run. You need broadband.
