Depends on how big you are on accuracy. The engel kit has its accuracy flaws. If you want as close to the real thing as possible you need to get the scale ships oscar 2 from russia! I have one of their akulas and a friend has the oscar. One bad boat and for the money you get alot!

Anybody had any experience with this one ?

Seems like a really well built model, incl. ballast tanks etc... If yuu dig around on that page you can get pictures of the build process under "more info" at the bottom.

JonJoe,
Yup, got an Engel Typhoon sitting on my bench right now. Not an easy build to be sure, but if you read and understand the instructions thoroughly you should have no problems. The good part about Engel is that if you run into any problems you can e-mail Engel and their support is second to none. I ran into a problem with mine and ended up e-mailing back and forth with Gregor Engel (the big cheese!!!) himself. Can't be better than that!
As for the Lecma kit, I don't know about the Typhoon. However, I have built a couple other of their kits. I built two of the Galathee (in my gallery) and the USS Seawolf. The Galathees went together relatively easy but when I tried to build the Seawolf, the instructions are in french. I don't speak nor understand french. I e-mailed Lecma and asked if there was an English version of the instructions and there answer was "no" So, needless to say, it was not an easy build for me at all.
If you do get one, let us know how it goes for you. Looks simple enough.
Hope that helps,
Pete

Here's another option for several hulls kits that showed up this week on RCG:
