Default Where can I get plans

Where can I get plans for a simple sub a real replica of a simple to build sub. I have been toying with making a sub for the last ten years. The nuclear subs look about the easiest to make as opposed to the Gato class. I have surfed through the net and I have yet to find plans that have dimensions and blueprint like quality. Can anybody out there help me to finally make my sub. I was planning on making it out of fibreglass and have some ideas on the mechanical end so any help I get will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jim

Jim,

I wouldn't think that would be too hard. However, if you are having difficulty finding plans I do have an extra set of plans for a 1/96th scale LA class submarine. I could let you have them cheap. PM me if you are interested. Otherwise, I would say your best bet would be Floating Drydock.

Sounds good how much do you want for them? It doesn't matter how big the plans are I can enlarge or shrink as needed. Thanks Jim

Several recommendations before you embark on this journey that I also did a few years before:

1. Visit & sign up for both SubCommitte &/or SubPirates forums. You'll find great reference material, excellent building tips & a great bunch of talented individuals there to help answer any questions you may have. I've gotten detailed plans from several gratis off SubPirates which was certainly worth the price of annual membership. ModelBoatMayhem also has an active RC sub forum as well that includes an ongoing thread on a homemade WTC that you'll want to see.

2. Get a copy of Steve Neill's [link=http://www.subpirateshobbies.com/]RC Submarine Modeling for Dumbas[/link]. Steve's CD primer on model sub building will be the best $20 you'll ever spend & is a great reference for anyone interested in scratch projects.

3. Have fun!

Chuck
