I picked up some late tiger metal tracks, an RC boat for my son, and a nice (large) RC PT 109. I plant on upgrading the electronics and if possible, put an airsot in it (lol)

No Tamiya booth at the show , they have not been to the show for at about two years.
Thanks, I thought I had missed it in one of my many "senior moments". If it was there and I missed it, it would have been both embarassing and dissappointing.

ORIGINAL: Captain Action

The HL people where vary nice and it was good to see all the tanks and available parts on display.

They even gave me some free spare plastic tank track sets ,that was nice of them.
Yes, my experience as well, on both counts;they gave me a spare set of tracks for the Tiger I

ORIGINAL: Captain Action

Glen is bad...he made me buy more tanks...
Yes, I am an "enabler"

Actually, it is part of a new intervention program for tank adicts.

But, unlike other programs, your support person doesn't talk you out of a purchase; they help you sellect what to buy next;

I think it went something like; "you said you wanted a Pershing, they have that demo one on at a great price, there's not a mark on it, ask them if they have the accessories boxed up somewhere for it, I'll bet they do.........................etc."

and if possible, put an airsot in it (lol)
No surprise there I "supercharged" one, too, I expect.

That would be a good idea.

We already have the CAN-AM in this area that Firemantim and Dennis started up, we're working on developing it, now.

The first meet on Sept 11 was small but a lot of fun, the attendance doubled on Oct. 23, everyone seemed to like that one even with the cloudburst at arround 1:30 PM (we just moved inside and held airsoft and electronics school)

I did well to get myself up there, this small town guy doesn't like the traffic, there. (I did my time in it from 1978 to 1988when our office was in the GTA)

The only new thing to photograph was the metal Tiger I hull, it will be on the website, soon. We still have today and tomorrow for someone to get some shots.

The Tiger II is coming, but there aren't any here yet, even for display.

Some RC trucks and cars , the show is realy small this year and $12 to get in just so you know.
If your going to big boys just make sure you keep an eye on what the price is and what you are charged at the check out. good luck..

I just got back from the show, it was smaller but it was still a good show. Finilly had a chance to meet Murphy at Mato, I'v been dealing with him for about a year. Came home with another Pershing, tracks and gear box, Pzr lll tracks and arms and other small bits. Got the Trumpeter 1/16 static M-16 Halftrack. A lot of people walking out with R/C tanks today so the hobby of tanks is growing I think. I will be buying the HL KT when it comes out.

What scale are those frypans?, The handles seem a little big but the metal casting seems spot on. Do they come with an RX 18?

The all metal hulls look interesting. Some questions on them:

Are they cast? They look like cast aluminum instead of bent hulls.

How does the upper hull attach to the lower metal hull?

Is Mato considering a mid or late-production lower metal hull?

The gearbox in the metal hull looks extra beefy, would make a nice addition to a Tiger 1 project.

I mentioned that in an earlier post, its "buried" back on page 1;

ORIGINAL: Glen B

There is no battery opening, the upper hull will have to be made to be removeable. There is a spring loaded keeper in the back of the hull to allow the modeler to set the upper hull up to be removeable; IMHO, this would be best done by a modeler, not a casual purchaser.
Interesting idea, the stock upper hull will require some modification to interface with this. That's why I suggested it was for the more serious modeler, as opposed to someone buying one for casual use.

Any word on if and when HL is going to be releasing their kits? I know awhile back someone had posted a link about this, just wondering if there was anything new in the works.

Cheers,
Wade

I wasn't planning on it but I walked out with a Jagdpanther.  I was quite surprised that my wife didn't kill me when I got home.  She just asked if I had a good time with my "fellow nerds" (her words) and what I bought (she didn't even ask how much I spent!!!).  The Mato metal parts definitely did look good and I will be buying more metal parts for my Tiger in the future.  I would love to have all the detail parts (they had turret detail parts that I haven't seen on their web-site) in metal.  I thought the metal Tiger-tub looked great but I'm not sure I could justify the price if it keeps the standard style suspension.  Plus I'd have to cut apart my tank to use their hull (or start a second all metal tiger?).  I will definitely be looking at their gear boxes though.  I've heard mixed reviews about them but they look very sturdy in person.

I bought a set at the show for my new HL Tiger I that I bought there, as well, I was very pleased with their appearance/quality.

They are not a straight "bolt up" fit for the Tiger I. Size and proportions are good but a little careful shimming with Milliput takes care of that. I will also drill through the bottom of the hull and bolt them in, as soon as I get to a good fastener supplier to get the little cap screws I want to use; no problem anyway, I will do the bolt installation when I strip it down to paint it.

Well, I have been a keen student but I have to give credit to the good people on this forum who really help speed up the learning curve, we are fortunate to have this excellent resource.

Got a ways to go to get to the veteran designation, though
