*** Updated** The North East Armored Division (NEAD/QPG) will be having a battle day on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at 10 AM in Bergen County NJ. It will be at Sherry Field 60 Lafayette Avenue, Westwood, NJ at 10 AM. NEAD is a Yahoo Groups based RC tank group of more than 60 members throughout the northeastern USA. This will be the fourth battlday for the NEAD group in the past 10 months. We primarily do Tamiya infra red tank battles with the TBS or compatable (DBU/ELmod) 1/16 tank systems. You are welcome to bring any other RC vehicle you have. I anticipate several 1/24 FOV or VS tank as well. We will also have Heng Long IR tganks there to do battle as well. In April we had over 25 tanks on the battlefield and a tank recovery truck and M16 halftrack. You need not have an IR equipped tank or any tank at all to attend. I will gladly loan anyone capable one of my IR tanks to try in battle. I will announce the exact location in a day or two. I'm sure all will have a good time. We will have a nice lunch (bring some cash or brown bag it) and there will be door prizes. Bring anything RC you wish to buy, sell, show or trade too. Call the club number if you have any questions.

Thanks for the phone calls guys. Please post a reply on the forum here for me as to what you are bringing. And a pic or two in you can. The battle will be at Westwood but at a different park (Sherry Filed at the Westwood / Wash. Twp boarder off Lafayette Avenue).
I'll post directions on the group homepage.
Try this link???? http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&bi...ed=0CBgQ8gEwAA
It should work. Bob, NEAD CO

Hi Steve,
It is fairly flat but we will have hills, barriers, buildings and dips in the terrain. It is also loaded with small shrubs which look just like 1/16 trees. We can all park right next to the field so access should not be an issue like it was in Hofstra. It is a shame they had to cage up that APC like that. I looks horrible.

Hi Buck,
If you don't get the JP done in time don't worry about it. Come anyway and you can run one of mine. Bring the JP to show us anyway, if you like.

Is that the proper address for that field Bob?Need it for the GPS. Could probably find it again from the old directions but would rather not deal with that.
i'll be bringing my Panther and Tiger, Also a HL/Tamiya conversion Pershing I just finished for my son. It came out well and works great. I think this was the easiest and cost effective conversion yet as I went straight for all Tamiya parts right from the get go instead of adding upgrade on top of upgrade.

I am planning to make the trip too guys. I am still working on the Tiger and do not know if it will be ready or not. Depends on the mail man and how fast i can sort out the problems I have with it. At any rate, it is not looking ggod at the moment for the big cat to fight. Either way I will be bringing out my Tauchpanzer and Sherman. The Leo is still waiting for parts to come alive and the Pershing is lacking a battle system. Blast it all....

I can't wait to see video and pics of the battle. Hopefully I can get the time off and come up next year after I have earned my vacation time. I want to get that longest distance travel to get there.

I am looking forward to this too. I may need a battle system if anyone has one to bring for my Tamiya. Seems that with all the issues with the Tiger, I forgot to order a system for the Sherman or Pershing....Anyway, I wanted to bring a video camera, but the battery does not hold a charge. Anyone willing to get some video of my tanks this weekend? Let's rock and roll guys!

Sounds about right on the drive time. The good thing is that on Sunday morning there should be very little traffic. The field is on two miles or so off the G S parkway exit 168.
Here are some additional detailed directions:
Here is the address. Sherry Field is located adjacent to 60 Lafayette Avenue, Westwood, NJ 07675.
Take the Garden State Parkway north to exit 168 Westwwood Wash Twp, turn right at the top of the ramp onto Washington Avenue (eastbound), go approx. 3/4 mi. to the next traffic light and turn right onto Pascack Road (southbound), go to the second light and turn left onto Ridgewood Road (eastbound) go approx 1 mi. and turn right onto Lafayette Avenue (southbound) If you got to the traffic light at the 4 lane road you missed the turn so make a legal u-turn. The Sherry Field ballpark is 1/2 mile down on the right side at the bend. If you have any questions call me at 201-358-6945.
If there is a weather cancellation I will post it on the NEAD/QPG Group homepage by 7 AM on Sunday. Don't for get the save the NEAD hompage on you "favorites" on your computer and check it often. I update it several times each week.

Great day indeed brother.I was a time for all. Some new members joining in and some really nice tanks out there. I am proud to say that my troubles today were limited to some issues with a battery pack for my transmitter. Other than that my work paid off and the PzIII and Tiger 1 performed very well through all terrain, thanks to elmod and some other goodies.
Looks like we even had an eagle flying high overhead watching us battle today!
P.S. Bob, I am coming for thatJT next time out! LOL
