HL Panther Painting Has Finally Begun; New, 1st Pictures
I have finally got my model workbench etc. set up after many questions and a number of months. Thanks to everyone who answered my MANY questions
I have started to finish my Panther G, it will be done up in the colours/markings of the Hermann Goring Div., 1944 Poland.
So far I have been painting wheeels and suspnsion parts (all dissmantled).
So far I am pleased with the results, working on it has become addicting

Not a chance even if I took the next 3 working days off I will have to make do with my "stock". Pz. IV and Stug
The Panther will be ready for the next GAN-Am after the 23rd, though
I have it pretty much stripped down and am painting all the small stuff oof the tank, then the hull and upper will get refinished, then reassembly can start.
I will have the gun from it there at the 23rd for"Äirsoft school", though.

Progress, so far;
All outer surfaces done in yellow.
Wheels all done and weathered
Airsoft gun upgraded at the Oct. 23rd CAN-AM (thanks thomasjohnmurphy )
Turret all back together, everything checks out
Tracks painted and weathered
Small broken internal bits all repaired (I think a 3/8"chuckimpact gun was used for assembly at the factory )
Green camo blotches are starting to go on, to be followed by red-brown
Gearboxes all cleaned and re-greased, they are in good shape
Decals are here for the markings for the Hermann Goering Div., Poland, 1944
I am pleased with my airbrushing, especially in light of never using one before.
I can see the light at the end of the completion tunnel

Hey Glen,
When you type in a post you will see a message at the bottom of the text screen that says Upload Images. Click on that. It will bring you to a box that has a bunch of boxes that say Choose File. Click on a box and it should take you to where the pictures are on your drive. Click on the picture or pictures you want. Then at the bottom hit OK. It will give you a message that you have uploaded. Then scroll down to the bottom of the text block and post just like you would without pictures.

Thanks, that sounds so easy, even I MIGHT be able to do it.
I am used to some other forums where picture posting requires much more effort than that.

A couple more.
Lots to do, yet; more weathering effects, markings, tool detailing/installation, matting, etc.
Everything is all hooked up and running perfectly.
Self tapping motor/gearbox mounting screws have been replaced with 3mm allen head capscrews, nuts, washers and lock washers.

Very Nice Glen. Great Job.
Very Nice Glen. Great Job.
I am encouraged by the way this one is going.
I am really into this hobby now, going to work is now just the inconvieniant thing that intrupts my model work
I think I can get another one done before Christmas, when I get my Jagdpanther, which I will want to work on, then.
Got to decide which gets done next; Tiger I, Panzer IV F2 or Stug; I am leaning towards the Tiger, in Abt. 506 colours/marking (at least this week)

Greta job, Glen. That is an amazing paint-job for a first time air-brusher. I am sure when I get mine going my first attempt will not look like that (it may not look like more than drips and splotches, I'm sure). I hope I can make it down to the next CAN-AM meet so I can see this Panther in person.

Great start. Now for the weathering. Did you pick up the scale model flyers at the hobby show. It had a great article on how to paint and weather a panzer IV. I actually used that same article years ago to guide me in the process. I have a copy if you want to read it

Great looking paint job. Are you planning on adding stipples for an ambush scheme. I think that would set it off.

Nice work Glen. [sm=thumbup.gif] I just ordered my first airbrush and compressor and I'll be happy if my first effort comes off half as well.

Looks really good! Now comes the fun part, weathering[sm=thumbs_up.gif]
Personally I think it's the best bit, watching a model come to life. Just have fun with it.
One thing I do is give the whole model a REALLY REALLY thin coat of flat earth, it fades the paintwork and helps tie the colours together.
I look forward to seeing more pics.
Frank.
