The foreign tank movie "Lebanon" DVD is scheduled to be released on January 18, 2011 thru Amazon and should be available for renting then. I want to see it before I'd purchase it so I went ahead and listed it on my Netflix 'future' list. Just wanted to give you a headsup!

Does anyone remember a movie about a P40 warhawk shot sown in the desert and an ongoing battle between it and a German tank?
I'm going way back but I have distinct memories of the movie and some scenes.

Can't wait for the DVDrelease. I've watched this movie a couple times and while it seems interesting enough....I cannot understand the Italianlanguage. lol So far it reminds me of the Panic Room.....you know, that movie with Jodie Foster and Kristen Stewart are stuck in the room the entire length of the movie.

I remember that movie, the P40 could taxi but could not fly. I don't recall who won.

That movie about the 'Panzer' commander in the desert obsessed with elimination that disabled American fighter was 'Death Hunt' with Lloyd Bridges as the crazed German commander. Course IF you look past the 'Panzer' being a Sherman, it's pretty good.

I think this might have been a TV movie cause I saw it when I was 'young'. NOT A SPOILER ALERT but: shows how you should keep you're hatches CLOSED if getting hit by .50 cals! I still keep watching for it to reappear on cable... I'll record it!

I remember that movie! I was so fasinated by the fighter plane and the strange marking on it. If I remember it call sign was like Hawk Sugar Tom or something like that.

Hi Dave, the tank in "Death Race" was not a Lee/Grant but a Sherman. Looks like a M4A3E8 76mm. Painted to look German, with mock-up machine gun and antenna ring, etc..

By the way, the German actor, Eric Braeden, also played the re-occuring "bad guy" in one of my favorite TV shows as a little kid, "Rat Patrol". Of course, Rat Patrol used lots of US armor painted to look German. They used the American "Priest" self-propelled gun as the German panzer in many episodes. And to act as a German "Famo" half-track, the took a US White half-track and cut several rounded door openings out of the side armor.

"Lebanon" is a piece of dull c**p. I would not reccomend watching it.
