Default Pin-ups?

Hi all,
Just for fun, I've painted a couple of pin-ups on my tanks.

That is great work! I found the decals on ebay and ordered a set. I can't paint nearly well enough to make it look like a woman on the side of the tank...it'd more likely look like an experiment gone terribly wrong.

I would do one of my Ex-wife but it would take the whole tank.

That reminds me of seeing Tom Arnold doing stand up on TV. He goes "I'm feeling great, I just lost three hundred pounds. On another note, I just got divorced!"

You have a talent for that. This is the first modeling detail I've seen that I don't think I can do.

Is it all free hand or do you have some other secret method? Do you paint from a picture or is she only in your mind? I may have to buy an American tank just so I can try it out myself.

Hi all,
Glad you like the girls!
They are all done freehand. I find a pin-up pic on the web (type "nose art" into google images) and base them on that. I modified "DD" by reversing the pic and bending her leg slightly to fit the space, (and didn't bother with a skirt LOL).
Frank.

Hi all,
I wasn't happy with my sherman's pin-up so I've re-done her
I think she looks much better, hope you like her

There is an artist named Andrew Bawidamann who makes pin-up stickers. Here is his website:

http://www.bawidamann.com/gallery/military.html

I bought several of his WW2 stickers, (he has both American and German ones), and plan to use them to decorate the outside of transport cases for tanks. I haven't gotten around to building them yet, but I often like to admire the decorations that are eventually going to go on them.

They're each around 3"x5" or 4"x6". Vinyl stickers with a peel-off backing. It would be great if he offered them in a suitable size for sticking on a 1/16 tank.

You know, Frank; you seem to have a talent for painting these things that most of us can never hope to duplicate. Maybe you should consider painting some onto decal paper and selling them to us lesser-talented folks. It could even go towards funding some more tanks for you!
