Tiger and Panther Comparitive sizes
Hey all.
Tonight I am sitting here contemplating whether or not returning to work after getting fattened up is worth the effort. I hope everyone had a Good Thanksgiving.
As I sit here, I began looking at my Tiger and Panther. Both are Tamiyas and are 1/16 but when i look at them side by side, my panther seems larger. So my question is ... Am I letting my turkey laddened mind playing tricks on me or was the Panther actually larger than the Tiger? I've been trying to find pictures of them next to each other to try and compare. Then lastly I am wondering if the Panther is a bit off the 1/16 scale.
Any thoughts?
Jimmy

Panther is longer, Tiger is wider. I think the Panther may be a little taller than the Tiger too. Panther and KV are about the same width and length.

On the subject of dimensions I find it interesting that the shape of the Maus was dictated by the shape and size of railroad tunnels. I wonder what it would have looked like without that restriction - an abrams?

What a load of nonsense, are you stupid enough to believe that an Abram’s can’t go through tunnels as it’s too large you do realise that Mause was twice the size of Abram’s, it may be a hill-les land scape where you live but let me assure you Europe is not hence why Maus and every other tank Abram’s included is designed to go through rail tunnels

YHR, it’s been a bad week but you are right it is rather over the top but it annoy's me when people try and say a tank built in one time period could have looked like one built 50 years later as though they had a crystal ball or related to Bill and Ted.

Ok I know it is larger but still not 2x the size, M1Overall length = 9 828 mm (from your linked site this includes the barrel). I was on and around M1's for over 10 years IP's, A1/A2's, SEP's, Wolverines, and Panther's. I know the M1 series and variants very well, I also rail loaded them in Europe even thru tunnels tehy fit on the rail cars fine it was our M88's that hung over a few feet on both sides of the car.

Well...you know how us guys like to talk about whether our stuff is too large to fit in tunnels... [img][/img]
