Sherman Barrel in US?

RE: Sherman Barrel in US?
You might find one on xbay. You'll have better luck if you find a friend with a lathe or a shop that has
a reasonable rate who can make you one.
I turned my own own for my old pre DMD Tamiya Sherman upgrade project. Looks well enough for this project, a low budget
affair.

The Sherman is an iconic American Tank. Even though it was essentially obsolete when it entered service it's reliability and adaptability (and the cool looking cast hull) make it one of my favourite tanks. I'd say some of the bravest men in the whole war were the guys who got back into a Sherman after having survived the loss of their last one. Theres a great series on YOUTUBE called "Sherman Tanks At WW II" It's really compelling stuff.

LOL . . . I was talking about this tank in particular. When I was going through Phase II Tank Crew Training at Camp Shelby we had to salute an old Sherman when we drove by.
Just found out we have a drivable Sherman here in Charleston.

Derby was an M4A1 that had been modified with applique armor before the Normandy invasion. The speed numbers on the turret sides tells us this was between June and late July '44 right before Operation Cobra. The crews quickly painted them over when it was discovered that they made excellent aim points for German gunners. Derby belonged to the 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored Division.

Don, Which gun are you looking for? If it's for Derby, you want a 75mm general purpose...Nick Aguilar has the gun and early mantlet. The 76mm you'd want for a later Shermann with T-23 turret, as the Mato.

Yes I want a scale version of the 76 like on Derby. Got a recoil and flash all waiting to go. Just need a tube and I'll have something for the TIGERS to play with.
