Metal Mato Hull with snap latch
I got around to adding the plastic top half to the Mato Hull and made use of the snap latch that is part of the rear bulkhead. No more removing screws to gain access to the inside. I did a quick little video to demonstate this

RE: Metal Mato Hull with snap latch
Silly question time, I've been pondering how to use the rear snap latch. I've not really had a proper look at it yet as I'm too busy shopping for my Panzer III but could I cheat and ask for some piccys showing how you did it?
Cheers

Here is a couple of pictures that show the snap assembly and what I used to make a receiver for the snap.
Again Lego comes to the rescue as a solid styrene building block. CA glued in the correct place, and I superimposed screws that are installed from the top to give you a secure set up.
This Tiger was my second tank and has been run through the mill. The upper hull is full of telltale signs of earlier attempts at one thing or another. Please disregard the condition of the interior of this upper half
This should give you an idea of how to utilize the "snap"

Your recoil is great! Is that the reversed HL recoil unit you modified on an earlier thread or is it a different brand? Also noticed your IR "apple", is that the modified HL apple you developed too? Really top notch work.

How does it sit Dan.? Get much sag with the springs? Do you foresee needing stiffer ones? I really like the fact that Mato is taking some initiative to bring something different to the hobby.

No sag at all. Right now it sits with full travel left in the suspension. Bear in mind that this chassis is designed to support a metal top section.

It is?. Does Mato plan on releasing a metal upper hull and turret? That would be cool. But and i hate to keep coming back to this but do you really think the 18 will live a reasonably long life with that much weight. I know there are 10 - 15 pounders running around out there but we know it wasnt designed with that in mind.

It is all in the gearing. Standard gears in a tank this heavy will burnout the RX18 in 15minutes. Throw 3:1 gears in it though and it can run all day. My All Metal Sherman does not overtax the RX 18 at all. It is 12 pounds.
Re all metal tiger. Yes there are lots of rumors floating around about an all metal Mato Tiger. When you look at all the metal parts Mato is making, I don't think it is hard to believe that an all metal Mato Tiger is in the works.

Lego, I must say Inever thought about that. Awesome idea!
I've made a critical mistake, I had decided to work on the Panzer III and have stripped it but now I have all these metal parts for a Tiger I lying around begging to be played with what's worse there may be a King Tiger or KV 1 on the horizon as well!
Regarding the metal top half, Mato have confirmed new metal parts due out soon, but are being a little tight lipped about it.
