When does Tamiya introduce new Tanks
As I understand this Tamiya produces one new tank per year on average. What time of year do they announce the new release?

RE: When does Tamiya introduce new Tanks
Usually new releases are announced in late summer- early fall- during the Tokyo Hobby Show - sometimes info gets leaked before that. The new releases usually are ready to ship late Fallto mid winter ( Oct, Nov & Dec). Their last release for this year was the M51 "Super" Sherman that has been received with mixed emotions. Scan thru this forum to see what the other tankers think of this release.
Hope this helps

Tam have released quite a few new tanks recently but for a long time there was only four to choose from. It'll be good to think they're going to release one every year.

RE: When does Tamiya introduce new Tanks
Looks like I have to wait at least another year for an Abrams. Its been three years now so I guess I can handle it. Sure would be nice though. I am finishing up a giant scale plane and Next year is the year to build my first tank. I was hoping it would be an Abrams.

Just for fun!
We have set up a Reader's Poll to take your vote on which tank Tamiya should release for us next.
As of this moment, the British WWII tanks are winning!!!
Please visit here, and click on the Poll on the right-hand side of the screen: www.heatarmor.com/joomla/
Thanks, Dana

RE: When does Tamiya introduce new Tanks
UPDATE: The British are still winning.
We have a Reader Poll that asks which 1/16th Tamiya tank you would like to see next.
Most of you ask for British tanks. Nobody wants a WWI tank!

How about adding another group to your poll list, which perhaps is a little lacking in categories:
NEW German medium or heavy WWII tanks: JagdTiger, Elefant, Lang.
Or even a Mid to Late Tiger I andor a full option Tiger II Porsche TurretHeavy Tank, since Tamiya marketing seems mostly interested into modifying old kits and releasing them as new deals; like their kinda new IDF Super Sherman.
I sincerely doubt if any modeler wants to build and drive a British WWII tank. Seriously, I wonder if they would be any more reliable than any Brit car ever imported into the USA in the last 60 years.
Rain or shine, cold or hot, they would never start.

RE: When does Tamiya introduce new Tanks
Truth is the German WWII AFV design was highly creative and inovative. The germans triedto win by perfecting the ultimate tank, while the allies relied on mass producting a simple, trusteddesign. Ultimatelly the allied strategy proved victorious, given their enormous superiority in manpower, but the german tanks look far more interesting then their allied counterparts.

No More German Tanks, of any class. We got enough. Sorry guys. We do need some British armor and the Abrams is at least 2 years away if it happens at all.

RE: When does Tamiya introduce new Tanks
I had no idea Panther G had a direct corporateadvisoryrole with the Tamiya founder.Plus, a final word on the subject.Who knew?
But perhaps there are a lot more interesting WWII Nat – Zee produced tanks and other interesting US Army Armor to model and to consider bringing to the USA market, way before "any" UK WWII Armor Kits.
Tamiya could have been smarter and released a Royal Army Sherman Firefly over the IDF kinda looking Sherman kit, just my opinion, and that would have been way more than enough WWII British Armour!
Excluding the Sherman Firefly, and of course, the tiny WWIIField Artillery Tractorssuch as theMorris "Quad"(not really a tank but nicely English, then);we think, that the whole need thing for some WWII Brit Armour is totally boring.

Pcomm, I see your usual hate is back again in response to your usual crap, all British cars in the last 60 years have been un-breakable it’s just the ones we export to idiots like you that are not this was purely intentional as for the rest of your anti-British comments, no one really cares about your opinion hence the reason why you were banned during your last “I hate everything and everyone” bout.

RE: When does Tamiya introduce new Tanks
Hello rivetaccountant,
Shall we remind "old rivet" about the world unfamous marketing phrase attached to all Brit cars and motorcycles ever imported into the USA over the last 60 years; then?
Lucus "Prince of Darkness".
Anyway, I just voted for a 1/16 Comet, need something new to build and shoot at, because I just sold off my equally boring Tamiya Pershing (LOL), through fun to build.
Fooled ya...
Merry Christmas and Tudalu.

PS And have you run over your foot yet nat – zeeee tiger driver?
