Grey until February '43 when they switched to Dunkelgelb (RAL 7028).
For historical accuracy the Ambush pattern should have hard-edged disruptive colors and dots.

pattoncommander, swathdiver........There is no question that your comments about historical accuracy are correct. However, as we all know, anything is possible in wartime, and field expediency happens all of the time. I have discovered a previously unknown source of information which explains the circumstances at issue here..............
According to the testimony of an eye witness,
During a battle, a Sherman tank crew ran out of main gun ammunition and fired at the German tank with it's .30 caliber machine gun. This hit the fire extinguisher and damaged it. The Panzer Commander thought that this was an inconsiderate and rude thing to do. In a rage, he fired at the Sherman, and caused it to become non-operational. The Sherman crew escaped, and the Panzer crew took the Sherman fire extinguisher to replace the one that was damaged. They also took the K rations, Lucky Strike cigarettes, Hershey bars and silk stockings that were left behind by the GIs. Looting in battle sometimes happens!
The explanation for the soft edge ambush paint scheme remains a mystery. I couldn't find a reason for that when I Googled Wikipedia.
...............and that's the way it was.............
I hope this helps................
(I just couldn't resist)

Hi Rex,
During combat anything is possible. A couple of years ago on Missing-Lynx there was an excellent thread on German fire extinguishers. They too had red painted ones for soft-skinned and light armored vehicles like half-tracks but they were stowed internally and smaller than the style modelled for the Tiger.

Here's a pic of the Ambush Pattern camouflage with its hard edges. Whoever the "genious" was who ordered this put into use saved a lot of Allied lives! It's simply awful, more like a fancy high recognition scheme!

That is a PzIV conversion. You need the PzIV and you need to buy the conversion kit too build that Panzerjagder IV. I think Phil has the kits, if not Welshdragon models also has them, sometimes. Depending on what he has instock.

Funny you should ask, I was just surfing the net to check out the latest and greatest in motors!
Still have my Watts Up Meter and 3 sets of different gearboxes that can be used for testing. Just used my trusty tachometer the other day to get the Pershing's gearboxes turning within 6 rpms of each other too.
Send me an e-mail when you get a chance.
