Schumo Kits/Tamiya Paint
Guys, anyone here that has painted Schumo Kits plastic parts with Tamiya TS type spray paint? I can't get it to take? Ihave washed the parts, tried Tamiya Metal Primer, Tamiya Plastic/Metal Primer, and no Primer at all and the paint just runs and will not stay where it is put. I have also tried it a small amount at a time to build it up without luck. Has anyone had the same experience and what was the cure, if there is one?
Thanks
Thanks

Hi
I am not sure of the type of material the kit is made of but have you tried scuffing the surface with some fine scotch bright to give the paint a litle something to stick to?

The parts are mostly nickel silver. Clean them well with soap and water. I use a 'self etching' primer paint in a rattle can from the automotive supply house. It's a local brew, but I know NAPA has roughly the same thing. Try it on a piece of sprue if you have some, but that has always worked for me, both there and here.

Yep, self etching automotive primer should work. i haven't ever really had a problem with it when dry airbrushing the parts. thats High air pressure l;ow paint volume a very light dusting at a time.

Guys, the parts are plastic type it actually looks and feels like PVC? They have a high gloss finish like PVC and not pourous at all. I have seen attempts to use a spray can of paint on PVC pipe with the same result. I think the airbrush is going to be the answer?
