Build of a Tamiya 1/16th Leopard 2 A6
Hello!
My first posting here in the rc Universe ~
I just purchased a Tamiya 1/16 Leopard 2 A6 Full Option kit -
From Dave4What [Ebay -Item# 120656781015] Very FAST Ship! And great communication!
As I have seen very little to nothing as far as 'builds' go on it.....
Thought I would document the entire build and post pic's here to share.
First, I do know and have seen the tanks that are posted and talked about very often.
I am different, I dont want my tank to look 'old', 'worn', 'weathered' or that it has been 'through' a battle.
I wanted it too look NEW! Shiny! Like a new age beast of a weapon!
***Please dont hate on the paint! Yes it is Glossy Black and silver***
Afew Pic's to start, then a few all the way untill complete ~ Including all MODs, changes I may make along the way~
The pic's showing the motors is my first 'mod'.
Instead of the stock 540's went with 21turn 550's

Not sure if just my connection, or if all have issue uploading images.....I wanted to use off site and just link - no load.
The on site load up to 12 - froze so many times I almost gave up, and del the thread.
But loaded now.....

Yes the site has been very frustrating of late. Sometimes pictures upload , with no issue, and other times the act of trying to upload will freeze access to the site. I hope they get someone working on it in the new year, otherwise the activity will drop off. People want to read and see things about RC tanks. As a contributor it gets very frustrating when things freeze up. How many others in the last few days have just given up. I know myself, there have been two threads I wanted to contribute something to, but the picture upload issue got the better of me , and i just went and did somethitng else. Too many guys doing something else, and suddenly the activity level here drops off.
Thanks for perservering. This hopefully is just a short term issue that once the holiday season is over, will get some attention.
BigTony was about halfway through his Leo build, and was posting on his progress, but he doesn't contribute much lately. So yes I don't know if we have seen a Leo 2 build start to finish yet.

While I am waiting on parts - have seen and been reading about the braces for the chassis.
I guess the sides tend to 'lean' in after awhile.
So, instead of buying a set ~ Decided to make my own.
These pics show from start to finish of making them and fitted in place.
Still need to clean up, paint, and secure to my Leo.

Bladedreams you may need to move the centre brace back because the speaker box will not fit with it in its current place
here is a picture of my Leo under construction to prove my point, i got the chassis brace from AFV in Germany
OBTW nice work on your leo how does the 550 motors compare in size to the 540 motor

Yes you are very right - this is just a 'mock up'. I still need to clean, paint then attatch them.
I am about 2 to 3 steps ahead of everything BEFORE I glue or screw them together....
How does that saying go?
"Measure twice, Cut once".
But I do very much appreciate any and all comments. Sometimes a second eye, or view/opinion can make a very big difference ~ and save a lot of time!

RE: Build of a Tamiya 1/16th Leopard 2 A6
I am at the point for the fiber optics and installing the front / rear lights.....
I have been thinking since the first that I wanted the head lights to be blue ~ all my RC trucks / buggies / cars have.
At first I thought I would just change out the LED's in the block..... Now I think it might be easier to just put in a blue LED into each head light,
a red LED into each of the brake lights. Then run my own wires up to where the light blocks were ~ in parallel of course as LED's do NOT work in series.
Wondering if any one else has done, or thought of doing?

Hey Blade
You will need ot go in and delete your pictures and then repost them one at a time. You can do it in the same post, but you have to post one, then use the edit feature to post additonal pictures.
Hopefully some one at RCU comes back to work after the holidays and has a look at this picture posting glitch for us.
