Exact specs for Heng Long Infrared LED?
Does anyone knows the exact specs of the IR Led used by the Heng Long IR tanks?
I found all the parts needed to do the conversion to IR at a single supplier in Europe, but he doesn't stock the IR leds. I suspect those can be found at local electronis shops, but I don't know what I'm looking for.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe Sevoblast from ETO can help you out. I know Bob handles mostly Tamiya stuff but he may have an HL emitter or two lying about.

I suspect the leds used for the IR Heng Long system are available at most electronics shops, I just need the specs for them.

Can someone please measure the diameter of the IR led in their tank? I suspect 5mm but I'd rather be sure.
I also found on Darkith's site a suposition that the HL IR led is a 880nm one, but he didn't sounded too sure. Maybe someone can confirm this.

Don't know if Sevoblast can help you on your technical questions (he tends to deal in the Tamiya product), but he is probably the closest geographically. He lives in Krimea (Severnaya Oblast)

Let me contact the Mockba boys and see if they know. I do not know the freq of the HL emitter. I do know it is different from the Tamiya emitter, and could not understand why HL did that, when Tamiya is the world standard of IR combat. Hooben and Elmod use the Tamiya frequency.

Would the IR detector have anything stamped on it to give you an idea of what wavelength it is.??? The IR LED emitter would obviously match that. If you can find a part number of the IR sensor and then google it, you should be able to find some data on it. That will pinpoint the wavelength it is looking for. I will be taking apart some IR sensors next week, I will look for a part number on it if you don't find an answer by then.

The relative close proximity is why i suggested Sevoblast. I know he is a Tamiya guy but just thought he could help. I knew he would at least know who would be able to help out our new friend.
