Default 1/24... or 1/35???

Well, I'm glad I held off on ordering the 1/24 FOV because of a trip to Florida for New Years... I just found these and with the smaller scale you can get away with a smaller board/battlefield. A bit more expensive, [well, twice as expensive] but might be worth it in the long run, and the list of 1/35 Tamiya WW2 accessories is enormous! I wish I'd have kept all of the stuff I built in the 70's and 80's. I probably had the entire 1/35 German/American lineup!

I read HD's build thread for his RC 1/35 Pz IV that he won from the AF raffle, but his had no sound or IR system. Anyone have these yet?

Yea there nice but for $240.00 to $270.00 they are a little exspensive... Like i stated in another post they may be worth getting into if you in fact do have a good club with a good number of guy's to do battles but if you are just going to run them around the 1/24 tanks are fine and you can get many more models you like for the cost.

Also you can run both scales as they are not to far off in size .

I think the advantage to going with the Tamiya 1/35s is the amount of scenery and battlefield props that is available.

But I wonder how durable they are, do the tracks clog up easy, do they throw tracks?

I was thinking more about the space required for a decent battlefield. Shen's is 7x16 if I remember correctly. You need a big room. With these you could get by with a smaller area... and yes, there are a ton of props, vehicles, soldiers that could be used along with it. Looks like they have the one piece rubber band type tracks though... could stretch out and cause problems

About a 3 1/2" difference for the Tiger. Tower Hobby lists the 1/24 at 12.9" length and the 1/35 at 9.5"

Yes, you have the luxury of a large battlefield... I'm not sure if I have the space for 1/24. You can always use any smaller scale ~ it only gives you more room! But, if you have a smaller tabletop it can get pretty cramped.

That's the only reason I'm thinking maybe smaller would be better. Heck, I'd love to make a large battlefield using 1/72 tanks with HO scale train set buildings but the run time on those tanks is only 5-10 minutes, and the VSTank batteries in the VS*R suck. Mine wouldn't take a charge after only a few weeks of use and I had to replace them all. The Tamiya 1/35 use AAA batteries so I'm sure they run a lot longer than that.

Heck, why can't I be wealthy and just get all of them?! []

Yes i seen that... VS also is coming out with a new KT with new sound and new radio and after that the 2.4 should be coming next!!!

What worries me about the 1/35 tamiyas i don't think they are made srtrong like the FOV or VS tanks they look like they are just converted 1/35 models that will be very weak..... also the tracks look funky don't know if they will be any good also.

I would sure not spend that kind of money on a 1:35 th scale RC anything, Just not worth it no matter what amount of extras are available.
Now as far as the electronics go, there only going to be capable of so much ounce you get down too the smaller scales.

I'm in a holding pattern and talking myself out of the 1/35 Tamiya. I've got too many tanks in various stages of projects and need RTR. Now you've complicated things dangling a new KT in front of me! [:@] I love the look of the VS and have never heard a bad thing about the electronics. They just seem so slow in getting the stuff out. I've been hearing about new sound for over a year now, and as far as the 2.4, is that going to be an add on or installed with the new tanks??

I also don't like the look of the exterior wires for the IR... FOV and VS have done a better job in cleaning up the project in a tank not a whole lot bigger

the new VS king tiger will have a new radio and sounds it will be out this april VS said on ther site click on there facebook page you will see photos of it... The 2.4 will be a upgrade for the guy's who are realy into the 1/24 tanks it supposebly will give you full proportional control and be able to give better sounds and each new sounds for different tanks so the sounds will not be all the same for the tanks.

New VS KT photos are in this thread

I was going to ask this question, but You beat me to it. Anyway I think what would be nice is for them to offer the electronics as a package, motors, esc, turret ring, recoil, basically everything. That way you could put it into whatever model tank tickles your fancy.
