Oh, OK, I almost gave you as a recommendation for yourself!
Well, one thing you might try is to pin up a note at your local hobby stores. There may be other tankers in your area who are not online.

Well, I can tell you from experience that you can't do this hobby alone. You need friends to ask questions and help with problems building your tanks. Starting a local network of fellow tankers is the best way to get your models built, operational and upgraded. And then...you will have folks to practice IR combat with.
