Default Tiger I battle gray weathering?

When I first started shopping around for an RC tank about a year ago I was immediately drawn to the battle gray of the Tiger I, Jagdpanther, and Panzer III. Don't really know why...it just appealed to me more than the camo. So when I bought my Tiger from Phil, I made sure it was battle gray!

I've seen some pretty incredible weathering jobs and would like to eventually get there with my Tiger, but I don't think I've ever seen a weathered battle gray tank. Most seem to be camo, desert tan, or winter camo. Was this paint scheme typically painted over with camo as soon as the tanks came from the factory?

If anyone has a weathered battle gray Tiger and would like to share some photos, I'd love to see them! -Marc.

The Dark grey tanks really only need some shading, fading where the sun really hits it and some dark lines in deep crevices, and of course mud and dust.

Cool! That gives me a few ideas. Eventually I may change the color of the tank altogether, I don't know, but for now I want to keep it battle gray. Thanks guys!

Check out the post from Luke under the thread about member's PZIII and IV models. It was posted yesterday on the 4th page. He's weathered a grey PZIII that will give you some ideas.

I love the early dark grey Tigers. That is the quintessential Tiger look. Huge and dark and evil.
