Hi all. My hl PzIV came with a hole in the side, I assume was for the old "A,B,C" switch. I glued a white piece of styrene over it and brushed on some Tamiya XF-60 Dark Yellow. When it dried, it took on a greenish tinge which doesnt match the rest of the tank. Maybe if I mix a bit of white in it will it match? Sorry, I havent had much experience with these colors.

Hey Old,
Let's try something.
Sand down the edges of your patch, until they are rounded and smooth, not square and stands out.
Now from a craft store or even Walmart get a cheap set of pastel chalk. Scrape the colors of chalk you like to make mud, dust, and dirt.
Mix in some white glue. If you want wet looking mud also mix in some acrylic floor polish. Make a thick yet workable mud and apply to your tan to cover the patch and other parts of the hull where you will find mud and such.

i never saw that hole in the side with my PzIV, but for the paint do what torpedochief says, but use a little darker tone for weathering after you fdo what he says, no one will notice it and it will liik better

Unless you want a "direct from factory" look, paint the entire lower hull & suspension the darker color and add some dirt/weathering.
That should take care of any paint matching.

Ok thanks guys, I'll try both ideas. Sand down the patch, paint the whole lower hull & weather. Won't be painting for a few weeks yet though, too cold.

Olfart,
I cut my patch to fill the slot, when dry used putty to fill the the seam then sanded. Can't even tell there was a hole there now.
