Glen,
yes, I forgot about that one. I'd like to meet March 26th at around 10am to look at the field and get some ideas on what we'd like to do.
We now have over 100 trees (thanks Hulu, Mike delivered them today) and 6 buildings
I hope the weather is good.

I hope the weather is good.
I have the 26th on my calendar, too.
April can be tricky, thats the month we usually put the bikes on the road and I remember the weather from two days in April last year, quite well. On April 3, 2010 my wife brought her new bike back from Burlington, we had a BBQ; it was like summer time. Two weeks later on April 17th, I was at a demo ride event; it was the only time I have had sleet bounce off my helmet (didn't stay on the road, but it WAS sleet).
We deserve a break, this year, since we haven't had much of one since Dec., I am thinking "happy thoughts" about the weather.

Looks like our core group of 7 will be in attendance (Tim, Roland, Glen, Mike, John, Ke, and Frank). I hope Duke Sedan can make it and perhaps a few new tankers too.
I sure hope we have a summer like last year. I'll look at getting a portable canopy to use at the battledays. The good thing is that we can unload from our cars right onto the field.
Mike and I installed Mike's DBU in his Jagdpanther today. He did a fantastic paint job on it. DBU works great.

Frank,
Sure, I will bring registration forms that day.
A test tank or two would be a very good idea.
I will look into a roto-tiller. There is lots of clay in this area, so I am not sure how effective it will be. But I think tilling the roads and river beds will make our job a lot easier. We have 2400 sq feet, so how do you guys feel about leaving some of the grass? We can mow it right down to nothing if we want to.
I'll bring some marker spray paint and stakes too.
And I will make a run over to my RR tie source to see what is there.

I'm really looking forward to battle day, I'll bring at least two 1/16th scale tanks and maybe some 1/24th scale too if there is any interest.
Thanks for that help Tim, I think it was more procrastination than technical intimidation that kept me from adding the DBU until now. Soon the Tiger will also roar but what's up with that aweful main cannon sound???

Egg,
you have to take the jumper off of the recoil on the DBC board. It will default back to the HL cannon sound, but you will loose the recoil block.
-I checked my source for RR ties. Its dried up, but perhaps when spring hits, CP will start replacing ties again.
-I'm also looking for a tiller to rent or borrow.

I'd love to come down for your next meet but I don't yet know what my schedule will be like. Iam also having problems with one of my reciever boards ( the one out of my Tiger that is now in my Jagdpanzer). Currently my Tiger 1 is off line (it's comletely torn down for re-build) but Ihave my Jagdpanther and my new Jagdpanzer custom build almost finished. The Jagdpanther is airsoftbut my Jagdpanzer won't shoot anything right now. Iwould like to set up at least one of my rigs for IR but Idon't know what system to use or where to get it. Imissed out on buying a T-34 with a Tamyia battle system ($100 out of Waterloo area) and I'm still kicking myself over that one...

RE: CAN-AM Battleday April 9/11
I went by the field today to take some pics. Its a good thing I did because I found where all the low
points are as they were full of water.
Here you can see where I market out a 40'x60' area using pylons. There is parking to the right
of the barn.
There is a major depression in the middle which could later serve as a dry lake bed (or even a
muddy swamp for anyone wanting to get dirty). All we would need to do is dig a river bed from
here out towards the western drainage ditch to keep the area dry. The dirt we dig up can be
used for hills.
Here is the drainage ditch on the western end of the field. It is pretty full of water at the moment
with all the melt off and rain.

RE: CAN-AM Battleday April 9/11
Well today would have been perfect for a Battleday. 51 F and sunny skies.
I may do some digging at the field on April 3rd (If that is ok with everyone) to improve drainage. So if anyone wants to meet me there on Sunday at around 1:30pm, I'll be there.
Long range forecast for next Saturday (April 9th) is 40% chance of rain and rain on the previous day too (wet grounds). Keep watching the weather channel and this forum.

Sorry, I can't make that because of some conflicts but that's great if you have the time.
Improved drainage might be a good thing, if it could be done, from the rain forecast I have seen for Sunday night and Monday.
On the on hand, I will be happy to have the rain wash the dirt and salt off the roads, on the other hand, I would love to see things dry out a bit.

RE: CAN-AM Battleday April 9/11
I finished digging a river/trench through the middle of the battlefield today, and made about 7 hills with what I removed. That pond in the middle of the field drained in about 20 minutes and made a huge difference. Friday morning, I'll give it a mow (weather permitting) and we should be good for Saturday.
The weather report calls for scattered showers Saturday afternoon, but that may and probably will change. Lets see what happens.
Some work ideas that I have for Saturday:
-Cut out some sod for an air-strip
-Roads
-shell holes
-Stone Bridge (note I have some concrete patio blocks that will work, but we will need a concrete or steel tunnel arch underneath)
Tim
Don't forget to bring a shovel, flat head if you have it.

I will be there, with two Shovels and Rake, if we can get power I can bring a weed wacker, if needed.
I will have the big bridge to test fit across the trench, the big houses are in primer and will not be finished but I can bring them if needed.
Regroup for 10:00 at the battle feild.

No rain in the forecast for the next 3 days! Sunny skies and the ground is drying up! Yahoo!
We are also going to get to see the new SLU up close this weekend and test it in IR combat!
7 Tankers attending so far!

Weather looks good for tomorrow.
Last chance to charge your batteries
Bring a Lunch!
The closest place to eat is Tim Hortons (about 5 minutes away)
