I have Impact metal tracks on my Tamiya Jagdpanther and I am very happy with them. They are a bit more more money than an average HL track upgrade, but well worth the price. They have more weight to them and a better track pin system.

I also have Impacts on my PzIII. The "Winterkettens" and yes, they are very good tracks. Pins are a chore to reomve, which is exactly what I want!
As for the TU's I would use standard Tamiya systems. Contact Bob at eto armor for info on making them very strong and scale.</p>

I had Impact tracks on my Super Pershing, M-26A1 and Winterketten on my Pz III and was very pleased with them. I think they make the tank sound better as well as add to the looks.

www.mitosal.com is Impacts site.
I am unsure if any vendors carry Impact parts in the states at this point though.

I also run Impact Panzer III/IV tracks on my HL P3 and Tamiya P4, great performance.
The Impact TUs are good when you are using the drop down gear for more realistic speed, they tend to be a bit noisy when new, and a little break in period is needed to get them to quiet down some.
I generally use the Tamiya gears from the stock Tamiya TUs to help the noise problem and even on some of my Impact TUs I have installed Ball Bearings on the gear shafts.
hope this helps.

Impact makes the best tracks in our hobby, bar none. I have them on most of my tanks, and never a problem with them.

I have a set of PzIII tracks...love them. But, I've been eyeballing Kenny Kong's single pin M26 tracks. So, I'll ask the question: how do Impact and Kenny Kong tracks compare? I've seen both of them highly recommended. Toss in Asiatam's tracks to the comparison, too...

I have Impact tracks and sprockets on my Tamiya Panther and have had a lot of trouble keeping the track pins in. Which is actually unusual for Impact tracks, but mine work loose regularly.

I have a set of early Tiger I tracks, KV I tracks and drive sprockets, and a TU. The finishing and quality of the tracks seems to be top notch, but I was recently told that the TU's are prone to premature failure. Haven't run the tank much since I've installed the TU, so only time will tell how long it lasts. Very impressed with their service. I ordered the tracks last Friday, and they arrived at the door yesterday morning! Four days from Singapore to Canada! Kudos to Fedex too.

I have many Impact items. I am happy with their quality for the most part. The Battle system is very good and is almot identical to the Tamiya with exception of the mounting base to the the "apple". It is a bit smaller and you can't use a Tamiya apple with an impact base and vice versa. The emitter wires to the the MF are identical. The Impact TU are great and come with a built in /removable 3/1 gear reduction. The metal bases are thin and do not hold the stand-off well I had to add a washer to keepthem spaced a little to prevent stripping out. I have three sets: two in my Jagdtigers and one in my Panther G. The tracks are great but I only have run them on the JP I sold. I do run them on my Pzr III and a Stug III. Sprockets and wheels are first rate too. Beware of mitosals shipping practices and costs.

I have several sets of both Impact and Kenny Kong tracks.

The advantages I see to the Impact tracks is that the locking pins stay in the tracks very well, and they are easy to darken by soaking them in white vinegar for two hours and then rinsing them off. The only disadvantage I know of is that you have to buy them through Mitosal, and their postage costs have always been far higher than what you would think is necessary. It is the one reason that I do not buy from them more often, and would buy from any other dealer who stocks their products, first.

I bought my first set of Kenny Kong tracks in about 2003, and have around 8 or 9 sets. I like what he makes, and his marketing person on the Bay (called Manheader) has always been friendly and helpful. Sometimes, he is the only manufacturer that produces the type that you might want (KT transport tracks and Pershing T-81 tracks with sprocket come to mind). The only disadvantages I have found with his tracks are that they are more difficult to darken by soaking - I have not yet found something that will work on them. And, sometimes there is a problem with them corroding and crumbling - I believe the problem is called "zinc pest." In my experience, his tracks come in two different "colors." If they are a very shiney silver color, then they probably do not have the corrosion problem. But if they are a darker, more dull, and lead-colored; then you will have to watch them for that. I have had two sets of Tiger I tracks have this problem (combat and transport - which he no longer makes). Both of them only sat on a shelf, and the tracks did not turn. After about 4 or 5 years of shelf-life (pun intended) the tracks broke apart in multiple places when just trying to revolve them by hand. I do not know if they have fixed this problem (maybe they have, and that's why the most-recent track sets I have bought are all shiney); but I still like their products, customer service, and shipping costs. I will buy from them again.

Sassgrunt...sounds like you're saying that Impact and Kenny Kong tracks are comparible or similar in terms of quality and it really boils to cost and version/style availability.

Philipat, if the same type of track were available from each of these two manufacturers, I would say that in terms of detail and locking pin retention, I would give Impact the nod. The details on their tracks just seem to look a little more "crisp" or "scale" than the same track from KK. But neither one is bad - like I said; I have several sets of each, and no regrets at all. We are very fortunate in this hobby to even have a choice.

Some of it boils down to what track you're looking for; as that may lock you into one or the other. If you wanted the Panzer III/IV Winterketten or Ostketten tracks, or the late-war single-shoe KT tracks; you'd have to go with Impact. On the other hand, Impact doesn't make some things that Kenny Kong does, (like track for the 1/15 Bandai Tiger, or KT transport track. Most people may not care about that last one, but it made a world of difference to me when I was trying to find suitable tracks for a Panther II - for which, I also used Impact's 18-tooth sprockets).

I don't have any experience with Asiatam tracks, but would be interested in hearing from others about them. I have had mixed experiences with some of their other products. Their metal KV hulls and roadwheels are really well made - you can tell that a lot of effort went into them. I have a couple of their Panzer III/Stug IIII hulls, and really liked them until the roadwheel rubber started to crack and fall apart. I don't know if the Mato rubber tires will fit the Asiatam hubs; but that might be a fix (if Mato is willing to sell the rubber tires separately. I haven't checked into that yet). I also got a couple of Asiatam gearboxes, because they were low-profile and geared lower than Tamiya gearboxes. The final-drive shaft on their gearboxes is made of brass, and I managed to bend one of them. I don't know if it was all the tension on it from the metal tracks or what; but that shaft really needs to be made from something stronger than brass, (the gearboxes from both Impact and Tamiya have steel shafts there).

Good info...tks. I'm interested in hearing other people's experiences with the AsiaTam tracks. I have some of their other stuff and some is good and some is in need of help, like you said.

Thanks again.

Impact gear boxes look nice.  But, I don't have a Panther and my tanks are HL.  The Impact gearboxes have output shafts that aren't compatible with the HL sprockets....so I hear anyways.  Thanks though.

Mostly, I'm interested in their tracks and the comparisons of their tracks with KK's (got that from someone) and AsiaTam's.

One word of caution with the Impact tracks. DO NOT RUN THEN TOO LOOSE. They WILL start to spit pins. I had atleast ten on each side work their way out at Danville this past November. Now I will need to CA each one. The problem seems to have taken care of it self since i took out a link from each side, but if you do not keep tension on the tracks the pins can start to float as this is what happened to mine.

Thats the only explanation i can come up with. The tracks had stretched considerably since new and i was maxed out on the tentioner at the start. finally the tacks just became so loose I had to take out a link, but again this is the only way i can see the pins coming loose . They simply started to float without enough tension.
