Nice work. Have you installed a set of Daryll's motor plates? Makes removing the TU's a lot easier on that beast. Keep the pics coming!

Hi JImmy,

Your Pershing looks great so far. I'm guessing that your are enjoying the build since you are drinking soda instead of the "Hard stuff". I don't know if I mentioned this to you but you should eliminate the Y connector for the DMD & MF units to improve relaiability. It will not affect the Tamiya wanranty. It will also give you more room since the M26 is a tight wiring build. If you can't, we may be able to do it next battle-weekend. I see you got the Futaba radio in one piece. How do you like the main gun fire button? How does it sound? I'm sure you are drooling in anticipation of the Extravaganza at the end of the month. I can't wait to shoot your M26 in the @$$ with the Stug III or the Panther.

Do not hesitate to call me if you need anything. You have my phone number.

Bob

Mergen,

I purchased the kit from Bob (aka thecommander) for it being my first ever build it has come along pretty good. The only complaint I have seen on this tank is it doesnt have alot of room inside, and that is so true.

Yellowshaker,

i have been thinking of them but right now since this is my first build I have just been trying to get the tank together for the extravaganza.LOL I just hope the Hooben I ordered is easier than this Pershing. Also I am looking foward to seeing some of your master pieces

Bob,

I am actually done with the build but I do need to give you a call to pick you brain on one thing, the fire button is great and the wife was laughing at me because I had the turret off and still firing the main gun lol. I also did away with the light circuit, just way to much wire.

You and Herman are scaring me, you both want to blow my perching to pieces hopefully i can at least get one round into your panther, i know how good you are.

I am really looking foward to the extravaganza, i got my vacation in and will be down early friday morning. I'll give you a ring.

also what is the Y connector?

The Tamiya Pershing was my first build and a very nice kit as all of them from Tamiya. I did get sick of building wheels though [] A small tip I use 3M electrical tape plastic cups and put the nuts and bolts along wiht the Tamiya pable "A"  "B" "C" etc. in the package. It makes for a nice holder with cap and easy to get at the small nuts and screws and not get them all mixed up. You can grab them at Home Depot.

No worries brother. The Pershing is a great tank for sure. Mine was built stock and I bought it that way froma  member here when I first entered the hobby. I repainted and detailed it, but plan to install the plate for the TU's soon after Danville. It will also get a  set of ETO's 400 motors installed. Don't worry about that Stug or Panther, my M-26 will back you up!  Of course, that means Bob will probably just shoot me down first!

Some more pics. Man this thing was and is hard to build, maybe I shouldnt of picked the pershing for my first build. One thing I see is the turret doenst turn that good and the up/down cannon elevation is slipping. Hopefully some of the guys down at the extravaganza can give me some pointers.

Starting on the turret.

More Turret/mantel

almost

Walla

I got some small things to iron out such as making the rear vents operational, more painting, and other things.

Devildog:

Lemme try to get off my lazy butt (a tad run down with another chest infection) and get pics of the way I hinged my engine deck grilles. Nothing too fancy, just a bit of heavy foil (Dollar Store cookie sheets give ya loads cheap!)and thin wire insulation, and some piano wire or the like.

Its really quite simple, compared to a Sherman driver's hatch... and it can be used on many other hinges as well. Plus, it provides a weak point if the grille gets jammed... hinge will tear, and the grille won't get mangled (If I had a Tiger, I'd use the same method for the mudflaps...) and the hinge is easily rebuilt.

My first build was the Pershing also they said it was the hardest to build .
If I could build this one the rest must be easy now I have built the KT and Panther also .
I also removed the wiring for the lights and added deans connectors and plastic tied the wires good to help from snagging the turret in them .

You are looking good with that Pershing Jim. Don't worry about the holes we will put in it. They are just fictional anyway. LOL I'm glad that you are having so much fun with the build. That is half the fun of it for me. I will be in Danville early Friday morning also.

Guys,

Thanks for all the great comments.

WhiteWolf,
take care of yourself and post me up some pics when you get a chance. I just cant bring myself to glue the grills down LOL

bowlman,
I have seen some posts about using the deans connectors, hopefully a vendor will have some down at the extravaganza I can get. I would like to get all this finished up.

Herman,
I have had some ups a downs with this build, there are some things I would of liked to have had ready for the extravaganza but just as long as I can run and shoot back at you King im happy LOL

It has been so much fun I have already ordered the Hooben from Bob at ETOarmour and have also found the electronics I need for it.

Thanks for all the help, it is much appreciated

Jim

I put a mini connector in line with the Tail Light wiring so I could completely remove the upper hull.

The Pershing looks good Jim. The Y connector mates the DMD & MF to the battery. It is sticking out in your photo. When it is all done please post a pic on the Extravaganza thread I've got runing OK? I can't wait to see it in action. Bob
