SLU review
well got my slu in the mail today and am pleased so far with the unit
the unit is a little complex for the avaerage user but is easy enough to learn how to use with a little patence
there is a lot of excess wire but can be trimmed down to make it more compact
you can mount the ECU ontop of the sound unit using double face tape to make it more compact for tight installs
there are 2 big ++++'s with this unit the sound files are ammazing when used with a tamiya speaker the fine tunning of the unit is very persise
the one thing I dont like is the speaker supplied it is way inferour to even a henglong speaker but that is easy to change also the leds supplied are not to my choise as 5mm leds are way to big for most tanks 3mm or better yet 2mm leds are much better by far have replaced all the leds with 2mm units and the SLU works fine with them
I will post pics and vids as I continue to test this unit and provide pics of the mods made to make it more compact as I have them done
but so far I am pleased with the unit time will tell if there are any bad faults but for now A OK
PS Tamiya Has nothing on the sound of this unit WOW

RE: SLU review
Thx Bubba for the review, this is great to hear, I am interested in the momentum, and sounds also might be interested in the battling side of it. also the burning tank sound when defeated is also pretty cool.

RE: SLU review
Bubba,
thanks for the kind words. I will pass on your concerns to our manufactuer in regards to the speaker and the LEDs. We did go to great lengths to provide quality sound and I hope all our customers are as happy with it as you are.
We did encounter a problem the order we received this month as there were some missing parts (IR units). But I a happy to say that those parts are being shipped to us on May 1st. The other challenge has been translating the instructions from Manderin to English.
Our manufacturer has also begun manufacturing the M26 and KV-1 SLU versions, due to arrive next month, and the M4 variant due in June.
Thanks again
Tim

I have seen them in use and am impressed with the.
My next project is to install one in a new Tiger I which I just received, it will also be outfitted with 3:1's like my Abt. 506 Tiger.

RE: SLU review
when you do the M4 it would be nice to see one done with the multi bank chrysler engine sound as most of them where used by british and canadian armour groups

RE: SLU review
new update This unit does have momentum as tested the tanks speed is reduced after 3 hits each consecutive hit then slows tank more and another nice addition is recoil defet on jumper 5 shunt it out and tank body recoil is gone if you wish to use the body recoil leave the pin 5 un jumped as the recoil is not as violent as the HL units
another nice feature is the second MG port alowing a second MG led
ESC is smooth and responsive to the stick very nice
PS momentum is based on the number of hits the tank is set at the lower the hits the faster it kicks in the higher the hits the longer it takes to kick in

Momentum
Are we talking momentum or speed reduction after being hit, or both? When I think of momentum I think of the tank coasting after the throttle stick is in neutral, and conversely, slowly moving up to speed as you accelerate.

RE: SLU review
I wonder how the SLU's makers recorded realistic and even better tank sounds, when Tamiya made such a big deal out of going to record the sounds of a real live King Tiger?

RE: SLU review
there are no preciveable steps in the speed control as you slowly move the stick forward the tank will slowly step up its speed and the same when you slow the tank
for those who slam a stick forward and back use a servo slower or be more responcive to stick movment

RE: SLU review
yes I did but it requiered exrensive settings on the radio as I use a computerised radio a super 8U futaba
had to set sub trim to 120% trim to -10% and total travel to 140% othewise you need to drop the center point on the up down stick by 15 %

Tim the system for the KV-1 sounds awesome i cant wait to hear the files. I have currently 3 projects in the works and the electronic packages are the determinig factor into there completion. I have plenty of room in my KV-85 cov/mod so I'm very interested in that set up. can you let me know when it is ready. Thanks tim, Gregg, N.E.A.D.

I have to confess I don't read every post here and therefore missed the precursors to this post.
Whose product is this? What is it? ( beside a battle system apple) Website / reference?
I'm buried in code and probably will be for some time to come so bear with me.
