I took the new Panther out for a spin today and ended up driving it at 3000 meters above sea level, that got me to thinking...

Did the Germans ever deploy tanks into alpine regons, and if so where? What units? When?

I took these today on the outting, then came home and found a single picture online of Tiger tanks camped in an alpine valley. It looks just like a place near here that is 3400 meters above sea level. I have no info about these tigers in the picture.

Alpine Tanks?

Any info out there on tanks in the high country? I would love to learn more so thanks for any help.<br type="_moz" />

Fine looking Panther and a wonderful backdrop for photos. Add some dirt and shoot B&W photos to match the tigers.

Looks like Estes Park, cant remember the lake near by, I think it was Grandby or something like that. That is a nice looking tank.

Two more from this morning. Estes is the other side of the divide, these were taken near Telluride.

Man that is nice. All it needs is a little field dirt and a couple Century 21 figures strategically placed to make it look authentic. Finding a good backdrop for photos is difficult, but you got it. I really like how the spotty camo blends in with the background on the first shot.

I have to drive out to the flats to get tank pix that look like all the WW 2 tank pix I see. All the big tank battles were fought on flatter ground than around here.

I like to shoot pix of my tanks and share them, and I try to get them to look as real as I can. Sort of" fakes for fun". Info about tanks in alpine areas would help me stage pictures.

These Tigers look like the early production runs with the solid RAL 7028 paint and too clean to have seen any combat yet. Maybe February-May production but I didn't look that closely at the pics.

I don't know about the use of German tanks in Alpine locations, but let's pretend they were......and keep those Colorado photos coming, I love those scenic backgrounds!!!! [X(]

Your videos of your armor in the snow (and in no snow) are fun to watch. The music is a nice touch. Very well done.

Thanks Rex.  Now that I have some proof of tanks in the high country I will shoot more pix close to home.

I'm thinking of a June/July tanks in snow thread.  I could take them up to the top of Engineer Pass and drive the tanks in snow above tree-line for some summer fun.  The tundra would make great scale plants for pix.  Hope ya'll like bluegrass music.

I could do some turns in skis &amp; shorts myself too!

I love Bluegrass music! The most fun I every had was in a pool hall that was also a topless/bottomless beer parlor that featured a live Bluegrass music band. A fight broke out at one of the pool tables............The band just kept on playing........it looked like the fighters were throwing punches in time to the music! Everybody was laughing their butts off. Nobody tried to stop the "entertainment" until the band was finished. In 1975, Phoenix was fun.

All the popular music I used was blocked by copyright laws, but the obscure bluegrass / cowboy music went round the world just fine. <div>

Your photos are really inspiring me to look around my area for scenic backdrops to use for photographing my stuff. They beat the heck out of my usual tabletop background. Unfortunately, there ain't a heck of a lot around here that looks appropriate for any WWII theater of war. I could take my stuff down to the freeway and say it was the Autobahn, but there aren't many "old" German vehicles driving on it. Just new ones.

Taking the tanks and scenic spots for photo shoots is a pain in the ***.  I have tote boxes and baggies for all the stuff.  Most times when I get there it's so windy the scale dudes get blown over before I get a picture.  <div>

</div><div>Non-dis crept backgrounds are best for pix, but the mtns. looked too good to pass up.  In spring the Calif. hills would look very nice.  Try someplace like Napa, or the Berkley Hills.  The Bay and The City would look cool in the background.  Put Transamerica in the cross hairs!</div></div>
