Default Two new tanks with problems - No 2

Hi All,

Computer issues last night created the first interesting post.

Now to the problems.

Purchased 1 x KV1 and 1 x Panther G full metal upgrade (tracks, gearbox, idler and rive wheels) + airsoft with the following problems.

[1] <u>KV1:</u> doesnt really like turning on the spot - all other functions O.K

[2]
<u>Panther G</u>: no drive functionality. RHS drive wheel moves very slowly on throttle engagement, but LHSdoes nothing at all. Moving either by hand does not indicate anybinding etc.- all other functions O.K

[3] Both tanks - humming from receiver

In all instances batteries have been new/fully charged.

Ihave removed and reseated crystals etc. to see if there was an inprovement - there was none

Any ideas?

you could try changing the crystals in your transmitter and see if the problem changes to the new tank. Just an idea to try and isolate the problem. On the KV-1, what type of terrain are you trying to turn on?

Just re-read your post. On the humming, have you broke-in the gear sets? I had a damaged set that I was unaware of and was test running my Panther G straight out of the box before disassembly to make sure it at least work before tear down and voiding the warrenty. Well I had receiver hum and the tank ran erratically and then stopped and smoke billowed out. Yep, fried the main board. On examination, one the the gear boxes had a bent axel and canted gear. Enough resistanenc to fry the board, so be caefull and take a look inside to see if all looks normale.

That all does sound like binding gear boxes/box. The KV is not a great turner on any surface, and will have more trouble on tall or even medium hight grass.<div> I don't beleive the real KV was able to do a neutral turn in the first place. i know that doesn't really mean anything in the hobby , but for realism sake it is something to consider.</div><div>The tracks are wide and the hull is long. These factors all have an effect on the vehicles performance. Each type of tank will not have the exact drive characteristics as every other type/model.</div><div>As the Sgt. says, I would check everything out before you smoke a board. It is VERY common to have a  gear box /gear boxes to be a little sticky or bound when they are new.</div><div> It did make for an interesting question in the beginning of the post. Some very clever answers. LOL.</div>

Thanks for everyone's feedback.

I wish it was the gearboxes.

Even when drive is not engaged, the electrics are erratic.

eg tank will start, but the do nothing at all after that - just the idle sound

or

everything works fine but no drive functionality at all

or

no drive function, but everything else that does work, does so in a jerky/ on and off manner.

The tank supplier has been good about this and offerred replacements, but upon testing the rest of his tanks, he had exactly the same problems as well (for his KV1, Panther G and Jagdpanthers).

Ideas?

Bad series of boards from the sound of it. Stock up. You'll need some at the very least any way. They are inexspensive so it's always a good idea to have a couple extras.

Sounds like a problem I have with my HL Tiger, acting all wierd and not responding. Then I switch the cyrstal with the controller for my Panzer III, and the Tiger works great. But the Panzer drives erratic now.
Switch the the crystal again, and the Panzer good , Tiger bad. I just have a bad controller I guess. My friend open it up but saw no loose wires or anything wrong. I'm get the SLU system for my Tiger anyway, so I'm not worried about fix it.
