need your opinions on my weathering i'm not liking it to much maybe it's the black, maybe i should use a dirt colour, anybody have any ideas what they would do

I actually really like the Panther. Perhaps adding some chipping effects to the paint would give you what you are looking for. Did you add a dullcoat or a wash to the tank after painting it?

Gregg, one, it's still too clean..need to dry brush some dirt/scratches on it. Anywhere the crew moves, there will be muddy footprints or dirt. Along fenders where they climb on, on turret sides, getting into the turret, on the sides leading to hatches, engine deck will be dirty from adding oil, refueling, dragging oil cans, etc. Looks like you have done some blackwash...a couple more couldn't hurt to tone down the light colors some more. Maybe also adding some baggage..jerry cans, fuel drum on back, German mg ammo boxes etc. Some minor damage on leading fenders... Tow cables should be a grimey black. Lookin' better. Here's a couple examples;

trying some more wash on it how would you do chips in it everytime i try that just looks like i made a mistake in painting it

I use the spnoge method for chipping mosty of the time. Use a dark color, like a brown or red broewn and use a spnoge like the one you would use for washing a car. Cut a tiny piece and use a tweezer, but be careful of how much paint is on the spne. I dab it into the paint and then press the sponge onto a rag or newspaper to get mostof the paint off, then apply it randomly to the tank. You can then use a very fine brush and with a light color go around some of the edges of the chips. This usually works convincingly...though I suggest practicing on a piece of scrap first. The probelm with chipping effects is the same as rust...it is easy to get carried away with both techniques. Only do the chipping in areas that would have a chip. i.e. edges of the hull or on the tow shackles and such...I hope this helps.

Here are a couple photos showing some stowage...Best is to getr a photo and dress it up IAW what that tank had on it. So many tanks had their own ideas and stowage, particulatly in Russia. My Tiger diorama was done after a tank on the Don River 1943.
Large fuel drums were simply placed on the back deck...weight held them on.

For a quick fix you could airbrush on some light tan or Buff to simulate dust on the road wheels. IT would lighten the wheels and give the appearance of some traveling miles.

good tip YHR, I did this with all my IDF Shermans and it works nice.

In my opinion and that is all, you just may really want to try some different colors,. No offense but this scheme is not very realistic. they did have patterns like this but they where rare and the colors you used are really not correct. you would have much better results with more traditional colors/ patterns. Again no offense just some constructive criticism. but , if you are happy with it that s great. just doesn't lend it self to very realistic effects as far as the weathering goes. Color has a major effect on the final outcome.

That tank looks really good now. I like the way you did it. The wash worked to tone down the paint to where it looks weathered. I think you are on the right track and will look forward to your progress. I may try that on a few of my tanks.

still going to work a bit on it have to look at it for awhile just to figure out what it needs i kind of like the wash on the road wheels and the tracks but i think itneeds a bit of brownish dirt colour on the front and the tracks

OK, here is some brownish dirt on the front to study.

This is real dust from running the Jagd through silt beds of clay powdered by a big front end loader.

Can ya do that in paint?

Iahve tried this technique also. However my base coat did not look nearly as good as yours!
