Glad the silly flat-tail dinna get completely flattened. Many places that have highways that cross habitats are now putting up fences along a stretch, and then put a culvert orthree UNDER the roadbed to act as an animal-underpass. I don't know how effective it is, but I think locally, they could use a few. Ottawa traffic reports ~still~ have warnings about accidents where someone has hit a moose, deer, or even an errant cow or horse (the horses tend to be rare, as they ain't as dumb).
The most common 'roadkill' around here is the groundhog, with about as many skunks as raccoons, and the odd squirrel as well. I've seen a few pets too (cats/dogs) which is a shame, if you care about your pet, leaving him/her loose to get hit is a crime.
That second one is just... *wince* Gotta send it to my nephew, he has a bulldog thats dumb as a post. Shreds and eats his stuffed toys. Even my siamese ain't that dumb (she's goin' on 16 years now)

Went to the beach to dig "Razor Clams" this past week end.You are allowed 15 clams per digger per tideon the evenning tide "night digging with a lite" when it's open to dig clams.This is usually a two or three day dig and a couple of times a month during the spring and fall clam digging seasons.I have been digging these clams for more than fifty years now and back in the 50"s and 60"s it was legal to dig 24 clams per person every day of the year.To keep the story short,in the 70's because so many people started digging these clams they were allmost wiped out so it was shut down compleetly for several years to allow the clams to recover and then opened several days a month during spring and fall months to control the amount of razor clams taken at any one time.
It is not uncommon for the long beach washington dig to have 20 to 30 thousand people on the beach digging clams on one tide.Take the number of people times 15 clams each and you will see it is a vast number of these clams taken on just one days dig.
The long beach peninsula is a sand beach about 23 miles long and most of it being open to dig clams on.It is a driveable beach and is considered a state highway with a speed limit of 25 MPH.
"Lewis" of the "Lewis & Clark" expidition and some of the other members stood on this very beach over 200 years ago near the current little beach town of "Longbeach Washington).
These Clams are found on the beaches of (northern Oregon,all of Washington,and a lot of Alaskian beaches ).Not sure about Canada,but would think they would have them also.?
These are some great eating clams-Pan fried-Whip a couple of eggs and dip them in the eggs and roll them in cracker crumbs and a little flour-into a hot frying pan untill golden brown on each sideYou cook them hot and fastand some of the best eating i can think of.

Bet he ends up doin' stunt wing-suiting for the movies... he's in IMDb, but never as a stunt-man. With stuff like that, bet they snap him up for at LEAST one Bond movie, surprised they haven't gotten him in for the new " IM4: Ghost Protocol " movie...

I found this on Goggle Earth... it seems the desert holds on to old scars.
I have been reading up on the 21st panzer division, and the Afrika Korps so I went to El Alamein on Goggle Earth to see what I could see. The lat and lon for each picture is at the bottom.
The plan is to visit each major WW2 tank battle site this way to see what I can see... cheaper than airfare.

Can you post the site? I have been into trains most of my life, but due to a military carrer, never had anything but a small teat track to run my stuff on. When we bought my current house, That I eventually retired from the Amy in. My wife promised one of the kids bedrooms when they moved out. Well when that happened I was deep into tanks and put off starting a layput. Now the two spare bedrooms are a guest bedroom and my wife's sewing room.. OHH well, I guess it's true, " You snooze, You lose " LOL. I'll look for your pics.

Been a member here for several years and still have all my tanks,but i'm back working on my train layout now.Belong to two forums,this one and hobby havoc.They have a section for trains and i'm posting my layout there.It's nothing fancy (but is a little different than most layouts you will see.) and they provide an area for those who like the trains.All you have to do is type in.....hobby havoc rc tanks=index.....and you will find it.A lot of the older members that you don't see here very often now were also members there.

My Panther wheels are finally completed and painted!!! Now, installing the rubber and gettin' them on da tank.
You cannot believe how many social functions I passed on to get these finished. So, once it's up and running it will be off the workbench very soon!

Captain Kangaroo passed away on January 23, 2004 at age 76 , which is odd, because he always looked to be 76. (DOB: 6/27/27 ) His death reminded me of the following story. Some people have been a bit offended that the actor, Lee Marvin, is buried in a grave alongside 3 and 4-star generals at Arlington National Cemetery His marker gives his name, rank (PVT) and service (USMC). Nothing else. Here's a guy who was only a famous movie star who served his time, why the heck does he rate burial with these guys?
