The Koolness (at least to me) of an Electric Dog Sled not withstanding...
I can imagine this Tracked Sled being used as the basis for some Interesting Builds...
Plus they just Look Fun to me...
At the end of the video they show a pair setup side by side...

How can one look up the service record of former military family members? I have the names of some family in ww2 and one in ww1 that I want to know more about. I am not a direct descendant of any of them though. All I know is one or two were in the pacific in ww2, and another was in italy under the first armored.

New to the tankers' lounge... been a tanker since OSUT in '84... :P Driven M48, M60A3 and M1A1 tanks, Loader for the M60A3 and M1A1s. M48 was unit display tank, in Germany. Anywho, I'm a new member of the USABOT (United States Army Brotherhood Of Tankers), and in the Texas Lone Star BN. Our 'official' tank is the M41 Walker Bulldog. Got interested and started looking to build a ride-in scale... Need help finding scale plans with dimensions, to develop from. Any scratch-build info, as well, if y'all don't mind helping a Brother out... I actually like some of the variants, such as the trac-skirts on the DK. Looking for something from Diesel conversion and up, for the Hull. Don't care too much for the Danish turret mods, but Armor upgrades that retain the majority of the turret shape are cool. I can pick and choose, since it's a one-off. I figure to use something along the lines of the 1/5th scale Sherman belt-drive... KISS principle... Any and all help appreciated! Later, Jeff

Hi Jeff and welcome to the forum. You may want to look at this link. It is a facebook page for a guy that built his on "Ride In" M60 powered by a Honda engine. Hope this helps.

Yes, I think he had to rethink the drive system after that? That said it is a interesting build. He used a metal frame and plywood to construct the lower hull and turret. Strong yet still light weight. It is a one man tank, but cool!!! Not under powered either by the way, as you said, "He puked a lot of bearings". It was LMAO moment to say the least. I need to look and see if he re-engineered that?

There was an (Australian?) 2/5ths scale Sherman with modified V-belts. Could always go electric, or Bat/Gen hybrid, too.
My plan is plywood and lumber, screwed and glued, primered, textured and then coated with concrete-floor paint, or maybe bed-liner. Road wheels will probably use trailer type torsion suspension and disguised coil-over shocks. They even make dual-torsion 'axles' for those tiny trailers for motorcycles, these days.
I want it to be fairly easy to piddle with. Did a quick MS Paint cut-n-paste, putting an M60A1E1/M60A2 rear deck and turret on a Walker hull. Aside from the color mismatch, it looks pretty neat... I want to be able to play with mix-and-match, like this. Add the skirts from Denmark, swap turrets and so on, but, for display and parades and such, a fairly accurate, recognizable, standard-variant of the M41 Walker Bulldog. Custom combinations not thought of, but using the standard scrap-heap parts, as well as upgraded mods, like the stand-off blast defection skirts off the "Killzone" 'Helghast' 'tank'... (NOT a tank... Missiles are NOT a replacement for a main-gun).
In one version, I even swapped-in R2D2 for the cupola... >.<
