RE: CAN-AM Battlday August 13th
After some discussion at the last CAN-AM Battleday, I have come up with some basic rules.
CAN-AM 10 Commandments:
1) Thou shalt have fun!
2) Thou shalt not cheat, nor shalt thou whine if thou doest loose!
3) Thou shalt not drive thine tank within 2' of another tank. Thou shalt not crash thine tank into another. Respect thine neighbor's property.
4) Thou shalt not walk on the battlefield during combat.
5) Thou shalt drive thine tank off the field once thou is destroyed unless the scenario states otherwise.
6) Thou shalt not use obscene profanity.
7) Thou shalt not intentionally damage the terrain.
8) Thou shalt help in set up and tear down of the field terrain if thou doest participate in a Battleday.
9) Thou shalt purchase thine yearly $20 membership if thou doest plan to attend CAN-AM events more than once. The membership goes to support the Black Creek Community Center whose land we use and toilets we desecrate.
10) Tho shalt remember to have fun and laugh!
CAN-AM IR Combat Configuration Rules:
You may set your tank to the default 5 or 6 hit capacity with its corresponding reload times,
or use the following chart found here: [link]http://soundandlightunit.weebly.com/ir-battling.html[/link]
Note: The chart makes provision for those using SLUs. The hit capacities will adjust the reload times accordingly.
Special SLU Rules:
-We will not be using the sensitivity settings, unless a scenario calls for it. SLU sensitivity will be left at its default setting.
-We will not be using the ammunition option.
Team Battles:
-Teammates will be identified by Red and Blue flags that can be attached to an antenna, barrel or by other means.
-The total hit capacities of each team will be as close as possible, unless a scenario dictates otherwise.
-Friendly fire happens, don't whine about it.
Sound good?

That's a great vid Tim. Your battlefield rocks as well as the armour shown. Thanks for sharing. We Peterborough lads would love to come sometime but it is a bit of a trek for us old fogies.

Guys:
Any allowance for taking battlefield donations in lieu of membership? I ask as I may not be able to get down as often as I'd like (and yea, I'd pick somebody up on the way through the TO area...) and if there was anything I could make or supply, let me know.
If this is do-able, gimme a poke with e-mail or PM, and I'll see what I've got laying about (like unfilled sandbags by the dozens - thought of loading 'em with wood-chips instead of sand - and other stuff)
I'm gonna give Idjit until the week before to see if he's gonna visit his younger bro in TO, and if not, I may have some spare space in the car to carry another body down. And yea, the car has A/C that ~works~.

Whitewolf,
The membership fee is for those who want to join the club and attend on a regular basis (ie more than twice a year). Don't feel you need to donate anything as you are 6 hours away and would not be considered a regular attendee.
What we are in need of is:
Tank traps/Dragon's teeth
Dirt, Dirt and more Dirt
Garden Shed (not that I want one donated, but we are looking for a free one)

Tim:
I think I could craft up a variety of teeth... got lots of wire from salvaged lawn election signs, and summat to make the teeth with can't bee too difficulty.
A shed... you think it'd be secure enough? I'm just thinking of teens goin' in, knockin' the lock off, and using the stored scenery for Airsoft/BB practice targets or summat. Mebbe if you could get a closet in the nearby building, and offer to volunteer some work, they'd be willing?
I ~apparently~ 'volunteered' myself into the Tenants Association 'Secretary' position the other day, seems the current one is moving out, and as I'd offered, had a laptop, and the current staffers thought I'd be good, I may be in, at least until the next formal election. Ah well, may mean they'll finally move the one-spot-only Visitors Parking sign... as it now sits between my spot and the visitors. Got a boost the other day watching the first butthead get ticketed AND towed - $55 ticket, at least $75 tow, and then storage fee, plus now, like Gatineau, you canna get your car outa hock until you pay ALL tickets owing! I sadly dinna get to hang about to watch him freak when he saw his car was gone... mebbe next time.
Know of anyone with a small trailer (or rental from Home Depot or such) and then some place that wants dirt carted off? Thats where I'd focus things. Often construction companies want locations to dump stuff, and long as you specify where and what types (aka clean fill) they will oblige. Just be sure the Community Center is ok with this idea.
I may not be able to contribute physically, but I do have a knack for thinking what a boss called 'creatively'...

RE: CAN-AM Battlday August 13th
One week to go. Attendance is going to be up for this one as there are lots of first timers who are planning to check out the action.
I'll have the field cut short and expanded by 500 sq ft to 60'x50'

RE: CAN-AM Battlday August 13th
I took advantage of the hour or so of rain today and went out to the battle field. The ground had softened up as a result of the rain, so I was able to dig another 20' of river, this time running perpendicular to the current river. The field is now 60' x 55' with a few more hills. I also set some town walls in the ground before I nearly collapsed from dehydration and heat exhaustion. [:@]
On a pathetic note, the battlefield is growing wild flowers. [&:] Time to get out the weedwacker of death. [>:]

Tim
That's grea news.
Yes, it was surprisingly hot today and I doubt the air could hold another water molecule, thats dedication, I think I'd have been hospitalized with heat stress after the first 5 minutes
Your efforts are MUCH appreciated

Guys:
Please post pics?
Looks like the weekend will be wet, and I felt like CRAP (forgot to renew pain-med prescriptions) so neither the Leo nor is the Sherman is reassembled (aka got nothing running)
Add to that the table saw makes a bloody mess, so I have to drag it outside to use (wonder if the communal balcony has an AC outlet...) which is a pain. Will have to look into a vacuum-ducting system & seals if I'm to keep it. I ~really~ don't want to store it with Idjit, seeing as he just damaged my 1Tb WD portable HDD.
Hope to see ya all in September... mebbe by then the immy transfusions & Remicade will have me feeling better too...

Thundershowers are supposed to hit later in the day at 6pm. We can play it by ear until 4pm. If the skies look bad, we will have to wrap up early.
I am going to mow and clean up the field tomorrow night.
There are going to be a bunch of rookie zipperheads in attendance.
Bring your own lunch. Bring a lawn chair.
Eggman donated an event tent to the club! Thanks Mike! I am bringing mine too.

Here is a site that I find forecasts the weather in this area aboput as close as any. As I type this, it indicates the rain should hold off until we're done, thye do update it every few hours so I suggest checking it off and on.

If the weather holds, I'm up for it if Airbrushler is. It's going to rain all day in Windsor anyway, so it beats being trap in the house with two kids, wife and a hyper dog. lol
I will bring my BBQ and I still have the event tent. The tanks are set to roll and will start charging the batteries.

I hope I dont count as a rookie zipperhead. Hopefully I get to make it this time. If only I lived closer I could help out with the field. []

RE: CAN-AM Battlday August 13th
As of this morning, looks like we'll start with a dry field tomorrow morning, current predictions are that it will be rain-free for the time period we need, hope that holds.
Just a couple more batteries to charge and I'll be ready.

The field is cut and trimmed. It is looking very nice and much bigger (3600 sq ft now).
I'll be at the field to start setting up at 10am.
See you on the battlefield.
