RE: CAN-AM Battleday Sept 17-2011
Thanks for the great CAN-AM 1st Aniversary Battle Day lads. We had our largest tank battle to date with a 5 on 4 engagement.
Great weather. Half a dozen interested onlookers showed up. I heard "I gotta get into this hobby!" a few times. [8D]
The tank field is looking fantastic with the new airfield, hills and bridges. I think we may need to to expand to 4000 sq feet by the end of the year.
We were offered a free covered trailer to keep onsite and store our houses in (gonna have to remove the tires to keep it from rolling away).
On top of everything, Frank found "Hans" my missing P4 DAK commander
Loads of fun and laughter all day long. Thanks again.

Thanks for the pics Glen. The grass certainly looks green. Too bad everyone was busy having fun and not shooting any video. LOL
I was just contacted by a young lad and his father who attended todays battle. They both want to join and have asked my help in making thier first purchase.
Build it and they will come.

What a great day! Worth the 4 hour drive, even though I had Tiger troubles all day. I've got to fix that idler!!

Hey Stince:
Ate those my donated sandbags in pic #6 (the capture... takes 3 Jerries to get one US trooper! Mebbe thats why they lost, eh?)
What did ya end up fillin 'em with, loose dirt? And thought about permanent filling yet?

Yes those are some of the sand bags you sent us. I just filled them with sand and hot glued the end together.
It was great to have Eggs daughters out to battle with us. I do feel bad when I shoot at them though. Lol

We now have a storage trailer to keep our buildings in.

Most Can Am members know that right now, Tim, Roland, Captainaction and Airbrusher & Stince supply the scale structures that make the field so interesting. Currently, to do this, they have to pack their vehicles (and I mean PACK) with this stuff, haul it out, then take it back home. This is most appreciated but a lot of work for them, so this is very good news.

It Tim that takes the credit for the diorama, I thought was pretty funny. Thanks for the sandbags Tim shared them among the group and I grab a few, now I'll have to see what I can use the for.
By any chance did anybody take a good picture of the huts, I forgot my camera and only had my phone to use.

They are off in the upper left quadrant of this one.
I should have got a better one, they looked very good.

For a phone-cam, those pics are pretty good. I may have to consider a mixed still/vid cam as the Fuji FE180 10 Mp I had packed it in. Lens motor issues, but it was given to me, so no great loss (Idjit said 'keep it')
I have a Canon G2 with a telephoto, and its macro w/ stock lens is prettygood, but only 4mp. Then there is sis's Sony HandiCam, uses Compact-CD (downer) but can handle about 90 mins of vid on the original battery. Its on indefinite loan, and if I come down for Oct, I'll bring it and the Canon for a buncha pics and a few clips.
OH, got a decent laptop too, w/ a multi-type mem-card reader (not a Dollar store one) so if anyone wants to consolidate pics for a CD/DVD then, I can do that too.

- hoping things come together for October..

Ya Stince..... picture #5 came out nice and clear....... camra phone my @$$....[:'(]
Hay YHR if you do come down some time we will make sure and make it a mandatory battle day and no Wife vetos allowed..
The feild should be alot bigger next year and now that we can store stuff we will have more buildings on site.
I think we should invite the guys from MatoMart to come down too.
We do have an open door policy and try not to gang up on the new guys, unless you dis the Pan-Tiger ...then your toast...

Inviting the MATO guys is a great idea. Perhaps we should investigate getting tanks for club members wholesale?
YHR, Niagara falls is a great vacation spot. We are only 15 minutes away from there. She can shop while you drive tanks.

Tim & crew:
Now that ya have a storage trailer... why not think about hitting a few R/C and/or air shows up Toronto way next year? or perhaps hitting CFB Borden or one of the other bases with tanks on display on a display/run day?
Its a thought... and if they have R/C aircraft already, shouldn't be tough to get the tanks cleared. Just a thought, might be a bit more 'incentive' for Mato to show up if there is more of an R/C audience, know whay I mean?
Just trying to think ahead, and out of the box, as usual.
WhiteWolf
PS: as for the trailer, I was thinkin a PODS donation or old cargo container might be less likely to 'go wandering'... unless you intend to pull the trailer rims/tires and store 'em elsewhere, and leave it on blocks. Just more randomization...
