RE: CAN-AM Battleday Sept 17-2011
SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!
I was just getting used to and liking the idea of summer
Oh well, at least there's another outdoor tank day in the month.
If the indoor event can be held at the armory, that should be excellent.
Interesting figures, too, Tim

I will probably be picking up another receiver for my Tactic TTx404 before Septembers meet. For guys like Glen and Mike, let me know if you want one too.

1 Week to go. The Forecast calls for clear skies and 70 F.
1/18 Stuka and 88 Flak arrived yesterday.
The Stuka is huge and the Flak has lots of bits that can break/fall off []
Also we got another event tent.
SLUs are in, so I will be invoicing club members next week.

That 88 is an awesome piece. I once thought of mounting it on a T34 chassis but never got around to it.
Now it just sits and collects dust!

I am still waiting for some brilliant person to make remote activated IR emitters for AT guns. It would be nice to point the 88 down a lane and have it fire automatically when something enters view.

Hey Tim,
It has been done, check this out!
http://home.comcast.net/~chioc/pak40.htm
I have been in contact with him as I want to create the same thing - a PAK 40 or 88mm that can cover an area to add a bit of spice to a battle.

Yuck, glad that work week is over. Between the full moon and the methadone clinic, they keep my Fire Dept busy.
Sorry for being out of the loop for the last 4 days. Now I have 15 SLUs to invoice and ship out this week. [X(]
Yes, the weekend is looking good, sun sun and more sun.
5 or 6 tankers coming, I believe.
I figure we may do a bit of landscaping too.
I am bringing one of these:

Yes the Sandbags arrived. Very nice!
I will bring them to the next CAN-AM and share them.
After I fill them with sand, how should I seal up the end?
Also, the plane is 1/18 scale. Its 2' long with a 31" wing span. A hanger would be great.

Tim:
Glad ya like 'em. Me, I'm handy with a needle and thread, so I'm gonna probably stitch 'em up, but you could just use some coarse string and tie the opening closed... Another way to close 'em up, but harder to open back up, is that hemming stuff called Stitch Witchery... its a strip of stuff you put in a hem, fold the fabric over it, and iron (basically hot-glue-stick in a strip form) but a handier form might be the tube-glue form of same (dunno if it needs ironing, and you could hold the end closed with a triangle clip - as usual, can post pics of " how I'd do it "...
As for the source... it was a German ebayer, not sure if he's even still around. I had to broker a deal with a guy in the UK to get 'em (bought 200) as seller wouldn't ship out of Europe. I may actually give making 'em a try myself once I get more time, and pick up one of those cheap Singer hand-stitchers. Heavens knows I have enough flour sacking about now... and in addition to sandbags, I can make customized 'tarps' to fit each tank, like those ones they sell for storing your auto or bike during the winter.
I was thinking that if I have to use fin sand in the bags, I may use my old food heat-sealer to make insert-bags to keep the sand from slowly oozing out the weave like it does with the Build-a-Rama ones...

RE: CAN-AM Battleday Sept 17-2011
My head count so far is 5 confirmed and one who wants to join, plus a few spectators.
I spent 2 hours mowing and cleaning up the field today. And I planted 6 miniature pine trees.
I'll be there at 9:30am to start set up. I have to work tomorrow night so I need to have everything torn down and out of there by 4:20pm.
