CAN-AM Battleday October 8/11
Only 2 more outdoor battles left this year.
Setup: 9:30am
Start Time: 10:00am
Last Salvo: 4:00pm
As our theme is Market Garden, I am working on a 30 Corps scenario where the attackers will have to break through Eindhoven to the defenders of Nijmegen Bridge (ya I know they are aiming for Arnhem, but I have US paratrooper action figures, so Nijmegen and Eindhoven will look cool)
Finally, I should have the storage trailer ready for any terrain pieces you want to leave behind. The trailer will be locked and immobilized.

" A Pan-Tiger is a big cat that knows how to play the pipes, ya fool! " (as for only an Irishman knowing how to play the pipes, as Connery's char says in The 'Longest Day', thats a load of BS!)
Then again, it ain't BAG-pipes yanno... its those reed ones that goat-legged twerp plays! [sm=lol.gif]

The Pantiger is unacceptable and cannot be used at the meet on Oct. 8, 2011.
The theme is Market Garden and it is not historically accurate.
By the fall of 1944, all operational Pantigers were pulled out of the west and shipped east to bolster Army Group North in the defence of East Prussia; I thought that was common historical knowlege.
Though some may have shown up lter in theArdennesOffensive but not Market Garden

Here is a little known fact, Rommel had 3 Pan-Tigers that he used during the battle of Kasserine Pass. They were all lost when their crews were overcome by overwhelming shame. [:@]
Even more surprising is that they destroyed an entire US tank company in the process. [&:]

We can pretend your T-55 is a cromwell and your Bulldog is a Tetrach airborne tank. LOL. I'll bring the heat gun so we can melt the chasis into shape.
I don't know about the twin headlights, but Rommels Pantigers did has a bratwurst despenser.
The gestapo had the tank crew's identities erased as to protect their families from undue humilation. Very sad.

Seriously though, the Market Garden Scenario is kind of simple.
Setup: Eindhoven bridge and Nijmegen bridge. All other bridges are removed from the field. Eindhoven is nearest the allied deployement corner, while Nijmegen is near the opposite corner.
Allied Objective: Get one tank across Nijmegen bridge to win.
Deployement: All tanks begin at one corner of the field
Axis Objective: Have atleast one tank near both bridges. Holding only one bridge results in a tie. Allies win if they cross Nijmegen.
Deployement: The Axis will deploy atleast one tank in each quadrant of the field.
No German tanks can remain on bridge.

Guys, just to make sure everyone knows, we were only joking around about Captainaction's famous Pantiger.
The Can Am Club is not at all exclusive when it comes to tank models, drive what you bring

Damn...
Makes me tempted to drop my 2A6 gear into one of my 1A4's, and mock up one of Bittrich's panzers that blew the heck out of Arnhem... (at least in the movie)... then again, ye ain't gaming that far... ah well.
I just hope I can get down, regardless of what I have running. Then again, main thing I have to ensure stays running is me, and then the car, eh?

Glen is correct. Bring whatever tanks you have.
Any tank nationality or era is fine. DBC/TBU/SLU/ELMOD/IBU are all acceptable.
Set your tank to whatever hit capacity you like as long as the system has a corresponding slower reload time for heavier tanks. If you are using a SLU, we have an optional tank hit capacity guide here: [link]http://soundandlightunit.weebly.com/ir-battling.html[/link] I encourage this as it does lend some sort of realism (9 hit capacity PIIIs are not Cricket IMHO), but it is not a rule written in stone.
The only thing we do ask is that your IR emitter is mounted in a tube (inside the mantlet, outside or strapped to the barrel) and the tip of the emitter is recessed at least 9mm from the end of the tube.

My father and I fixed the trailer today. She is ready to store our buildings. I was thinking of painting her olive drab with canadian ww2 markings.
We can use the previous owner lic plate to bring it to the field where she will stay, then return the plates.

Tim...
On that 'take the trailer to somewhere to do a demo... anyone thought of co-ordinating with Mato, and doing a display AT THEIR SHOP? If the scenery is portable now, thats the next logical conclusion, right? Barring that, mebbe contacting other hobby shops in the area (or finding ones that carry or will order Tamiya & HL) and doing displays in co-ordination with them?
Thought of that when I was talking to Idjit in the car this aft.

Tetris,
The M41 had up to 38mm of armour which is comparable to the panzer IIIH, so it would truely be light tank. I figure 3 hits, a bit more than the PIIIH and less than the PIIIJ.
Now you don't have to go with that. We talked about allowing people to just play the default 5 or 6 hits. The benifit to the 3 htis would be the super fast reload time. When and if you get one, try them both out and see what you like best.
I have a PIVF2 that I want to battle with. At 4 hits, it should be interesting.
Wolf,
Unfortunately, the trailer is kind of old and won't have a lic plate. I would not want to take it on the QEW for fear of it exploding from wind shear alone. LOL.
We did talk about inviting MATO down to a Battleday though.
