I have decided to build the upgunned version of the Jumbo. This includes the M2 relocated to infront of the loaders hatch. A 30. caliber mg infront of the commanders hatch. of course the high fire rate M2 aircraft version in the mantlet.. what i want to do is put an muzzle brake on the 76 barrel but cant seem to find one that will work.
The closest thing i can come up with is the brake from an M26 pershing. Does anyone happen to have a spare brake from either an old HL M26 that they dont need or a tamiya brake.
I could easily get it from tamiya but you need to buy to sprues to get the pershing brake as they only have one half one each of the corresponding sprues. I don't really want to buy 2 more sprues as i have already 3 Pershing sprues of varying parts from my tamiay pershing and the HL/Tamiya conversion I did on my sons HL/Pershing.
This by the way is one of the best conversions you can make to an HL pershing IMO. His tank is not been able to be determined to not be a Tamiya Pershin, That is why i believe the HL pershing is the best tank HL makes period. The new Panther is awesome to but i have not been able to buy one yet so this is subjective. i will someday as i want to make an early G version with zimmerite and the early mantlet without the chin gaurd.
So if any one has an old HL pershing barrel they can spare or an extra Tamiya muzzel brake i would greatly appreciate it. thanks guys.
the Jumbo is progressing fast now and is finally worthy of some pics so as soon as i can get some of these minor details finished i will load the build pics.
the Mato lower and Tamiya upper make a great conversion and many variants are possible with this combination. I will eventually get the new Mato metal suspension for it, but as i am still using the sock drive line i want to do some longevity tests vbefore doing a full gear box swap.
Just like my T-34/85's i really have not had any problems with the stock drive systems. I guess it all depends on how hard you ant to work them. that being said in all fairness, these are not my Primary MBT's so they get limited use, but i havent babyed them either. Just use common sense and smart tactics. thanks guys.

Not sure if this will help you out or not. I have a couple of (what are supposed to be) 76mm Sherman muzzle brakes in resin.
One came a long time ago with a MaxTrax T-23 turret, and is molded on the end of the (non-hollow) barrel. The rear baffle is circular in shape; unlike the front baffle, which looks rectangular from the front. I always suspected that it was cast from a mold of the Bandai 1/15 Sturmgeschutz plastic barrel; because it looks just like it.
The other one is just the resin muzzle break itself, and meant to fit onto the end of a metal barrel. I have no idea where it came from, but it looks to be a dead-ringer for the one that came with the BYA conversion kit.
Both of them are a lot smaller than the 90mm one from the Pershing, so they may be a better starting point for you. PM me if nobody comes up with something better, and I'll send them to you. -Mike

Pattoncommander beat me to it-Iwas going to tell you that Nick has a Sherman 76mm turret set that includes a muzzel brake, and he's more than happy to sell individual bits. He also markets his bits at a very reasonable price and Itruly enjoy doing buisness with him. It'll be exactly what you need.

I know its your build but I wouldn't place a muzzle brake on the up gunned Jumbo. Any pics you do find are not correct for many WWII pictures of the 76MM Jumbo are all without AND do not even have a thread protector either.

Jeff now that you mention it you are correct. they dont have the thread protector. that makes me wonder what barrel they used since ALL the 76W barrels had either thread protectors or muzzel breaks. And thanks guys for all the input. I'm well aware of Nicks excellent parts. Just trying to stay within a very tight budget at the moment. I would have lovd to have gotten his entire barrel and mantlet to add the extra armor too just not in said budget. So I will proceed as planned and take off my thread protector. I'm still curious as to what barrel they used though.

Dont think so. i really dont have the money for a DMD and MF unit at the moment. It certainly could be buy isn't looking good as far as that aspect goes.
